This movie takes place in New York City according to IMDb. While the story is set in New York, the movie was actually filmed in and around Los Angeles, using its downtown areas for filming. I'll look forward to see Blade II (2002) reaction next.

Wesley Snipes is super awesome as Blade doing all the fighting actions. This was the first Marvel movie that succeeded the box office and this rescued Marvel from bankruptcy. The budget of this movie was $45 million. The flowers are an artificial hybrid plant, representing Blade's dual nature as a half-human, half-vampire. The plant's composition of Dracaena roots and Leucospermum flowers symbolizes his hybrid existence, and Blade's act of cutting its roots before the final battle is a metaphorical assertion of independence from his past and those who raised him.
