Archaeology Kit Addition Preview
🕑 Added 2021-07-15 14:29:12 +0000 UTCI've finally got the basics of a major new feature addition to the Archaeology Kit working that I've had in mind since the beginning. It's a mission-based career that works in a similar manner to the Batuu missions, but does not require Batuu (just works the same way).
I have a ways to go before finishing this to the standards I want for it. In fact, I have so many missions planned, I'm probably going to develop a tool to help me build them (at least 5-6 tuning files are required for each mission). But I now know how to do it.
I've attached a screenshot showing a testing mission (most of them will be more interesting than collecting dirt clumps...lol). To get a mission, you need to have at least a level 4 skill in Archaeology (so that you can Survey for Dig Sites). At the moment, you just go talk to any Librarian (at any library) to Ask for Missions. I think I'm going to put a little more drama around getting started doing it -- maybe a mysterious phone call or a letter with an offer from the Simsonian, idk.
I intend to take most of my inspiration from The Librarian movie and television series, so it will probably end up involving some 'adventure' from high-ticket, longer term missions that require preparation. Retrieving a specific relic from the top of Mt Komorebi, for example. That might take some training, so that mission would probably be worth at least several thousand simoleons. I haven't decided whether I want to bring something analogous to the Serpent Brotherhood from the series into it yet.
But first, I need a way to more easily develop and maintain a few dozen missions. Updates to follow as I can provide them.
