Playing Catch-up and Poll Results
🕑 Added 2023-03-08 16:31:04 +0000 UTCSo, as some of you may already be aware, it currently is March.
As in, the month.
And we’re already at a full quarter of it.
… You know, I’m starting to see why some people used to be so concerned with my inability to tell the date at any given time. Particularly when I inadvertently skipped a whole month of college, thinking it hadn’t started yet.
Anyway, my dark history aside, this is where I give you a monthly reminder that this literally couldn’t be done without you, that I’m so grateful for your support (moral, economic, and otherwise), that I find it hard to put down into words despite that being my actual job, and that I hope to give you back at least a fraction of what I get just from you being here.
Also, the poll results!
(Which I guess are slightly more intriguing to you all, given there’s at least some variety in them.)
In the Plot Bunnies poll, there’s a stalemate between Chef’s Choice and Marvel’s What If #63. I don’t think Toni and Steve’s tale will be quite as fantastic (heh) as Reed and Victoria’s, but I’m definitely going to try. As I already said, emotionally damaged supergenius girls may be an Achilles’ Heel of mine, so expect Toni to really be deep into her alcoholic phase.
And in the Extra 3k or Chapter Poll, we have a return to bygone times with Wordsworth reclaiming its winning spot. Which, I mean, I’d be happier about if I already didn’t have a few accumulated words for it…
And I was more confident in the arc I last teased.
Which brings us right around to the next topic of discussion: I am freaking out.
I committed to the current Wake-up Call’s arc when the sirens sounded, but there are still a few things I planned for that I positively dread inflicting on you all, and the next All Right! Fine! I Will Take You! will put me precisely in that very same position. Some of you may remember just how much I freaked out when trying to give Zaimokuza a satisfactory ending, and the chuuni writer’s own thoughts about how hard it is to put an end to a story you love are pretty darn relevant at this point.
As most of you may know, when I’m anxious, I tend to make a mess out of things. Starting with my sleeping schedule, and then with my Impostor’s Syndrome, which isn’t the most productive mindset with which to tackle things. So, as if I learned something about my characters having talked about trauma and mental health for more than a year, I would like to reach out.
It’s not something dire, and sorry about the overdramatic tone. Sometimes I lean too hard on self-deprecating humor (I know, hard to believe).
Basically, I see a few issues I am currently facing and some possible solutions which I would like to hear your thoughts about. If you’re available to discuss them, either on the comments, the Discord, or my main thread on QQ, I’d be delighted, but I am also going to post a small poll here with what I think may be some ways to tackle the said issues. Basically, I’m going to write the topics in bullet points starting right now, and then there will be a poll with my proposed solutions:
- I fear I’m engaging less and less as I focus more on trying to write the pending projects. This is not ideal for you or me, as I definitely wouldn’t have gotten to my current writing level without your feedback. Also, that humans are social beings and, you know, I would like to chat with you rather than become a literal hermit.
- There are quite a few things on that pending list, including commissions I agreed to months ago that haven’t seen the light of day.
- My schedule is a mess.
- I need to self-promote, yet I fear being either too intrusive, annoying, or tacky about it, because I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.
Anyway, that’s it for the heavy topics of today. Now it’s back to me smashing my head against the Tales From a Lewd Fantasy World that refuses to be simple and straightforward and writing the next Of Sisters and Shadows. Thank you again for being here, for reading, and for being generous and caring souls.
… Darn it, this isn’t my fault: too many vanilla visual novels in my formative years have made me mushy. This is my version of the story, and I’m sticking to it.

... I blame shounen. Or masochism, quixotism, and other "-isms."
