My Apologies (Again) and a Bit of Oversharing
🕑 Added 2022-11-20 22:08:40 +0000 UTCSo, I already told you that last week my output was lower than usual due to some family matters. This week, I struggled to get past them and managed to barely finish two more or less okayish chapters of Wake-up Call and All Right! Fine! I Will Take You!
That wasn’t the plan.
I wanted to have the next chapter of Ginosko done already, and I wanted to fit a third Periodical Cicadas update this month, but… Well, here comes the oversharing part. You’ve been warned. Please, do not read if this is going to make you uncomfortable.
On the night of Thursday the tenth, my maternal uncle, my mother’s brother, died of a heart attack. He had been ill for over a year, but he was on a new treatment and had been, according to his doctors, steadily recovering. Everybody was caught by surprise by the whole thing. I warned you about having to attend to family matters, but what I didn’t expect was for the situation to affect me as much as it did and all but strangle my words per hour ratio.
Still, I was more or less over the hurdle by Friday, and the lighthearted tone of the latest Oregairu chapter certainly helped in getting it finished. Ginosko wasn’t set to be overly dramatic this time around, so I expected to have it done by today.
And yesterday, my great aunt died.
Cancer, this time around.
It’s… It may not have hit me this hard if the other death wasn’t still so raw, but… Well, the funeral’s tomorrow, and…
I’ll do my best, not only because you deserve it, but because I refuse to let myself stop, but… Well, this is just a small warning that I may not (will not) be at the top of my game, and it’s quite likely I’ll have to use some days from December to write things I had planned to write this month. Time’s running out, and it would be irresponsible not to admit that.
In this particular case, I think that will mean that both Wordsworth and Of Sisters and Shadows will have 8k words worth of updates in December, and I’ll try to push forward with both the Next Tales from a Lewd Fantasy World, the She-Ra one-shot, and the Konosuba chapter. If you want to comment about any ideas for those three projects on the Discord, I’ll be quite grateful, because I’m definitely not in a position to refuse any help at the moment.
Also, I’ll try to get Ginosko out tomorrow, even if it’s mostly as a therapeutical thing, but… well… Funeral.
I’m sorry to saddle you all with this barrage, and I hope I can get you some lighthearted fluff to make up for it soon enough. This week may feature a couple of omakes for both Wake-up Call and Oregairu because I really don’t want the quality of the two series to drop right at this point. Other than that? I’ll see how things go. Who knows, I may get immersed in writing deeply enough that the quality won’t suffer; far weirder things have happened since I started this Patreon.
Anyway, thank you, everyone, for your support thus far. It means a lot, and I’m sorry to disappoint any expectations.

Thank you, everyone. I'm certainly not planning on stopping anytime soon (though slowing down is another matter entirely), and it seems my head's a bit clearer already, but I definitely need to do some maintenance on the traitorous thing. In this particular case, that means obsessively shopping for Christmas gifts and coming up with ideas for the unwritten chapters , though I guess I should add that whole "exercise and meditation" thing I empirically know is objectively helpful...

My condolences. Cancer fucking sucks, and life in general sometimes can as well. The important thing is to keep moving forward, because life can be very unforgiving if you stop too long. Reach out to your family and friends, maybe consider a visit to a therapist, and then go punch life in the dick.
