Beneos Tokens Relaunch - Deals and Details
🕑 Added 2022-12-15 00:34:39 +0000 UTCAlmost two years have passed since we started Beneos Tokens, because we wanted to enable you to maintain a consistent aesthetic for your game by using our monster tokens alongside Beneos Battlemaps. It is no secret that we aim for digital TTRPGs to be as immersive as possible. Beneos Tokens felt like the logical next step, as we also love to design monsters that make for engaging, challenging and ultimately satisfying combat experiences!
We've learned so much since the early days and steadily worked on improving Beneos Tokens on every level - how to build and animate the Tokens, how to get the most out of FoundryVTT and how to make our Tokens as accessible as possible.
At the beginning, our Tokens had one idle animation and that was it - now Tokens have up to twelve different animations for walking, dying, attacking, taking damage and their various special abilites!
By now, the Foundry Module has been reworked from the ground up to allow us to pour every single ounce of experience we've accumulated over time into it.
Looking at the difference between the recent product and our legacy tokens from way back, we decided to go back to the beginning and apply all the things we've learned, to make use of the improved technical requisites provided by Foundry V10, while simultaneously going forward and continue to expand towards our vision of borderless, streamlined and immersive digital gameplay.
Relaunch is a big, flashy word - so what actually changed? Glad you asked!
- We've made updates to every past Token in terms of fixes, balance optimisation or even completely new animations to get our first Tokens in line with the quality of our newest ones!
- This includes complete remakes of our first 17 Tokens, including heavyweights like Gluttony and the Curseweaver, as well as important "generic" tokens like Villagers, Assassins and Fighters!
- The current module is completely new and exclusively written for FoundryVTT, increasing performace by 80%
- This goes along with no more lags, no more stutterung and no more flickering animations
- We've integrated and improved our inbuild Search Engine and tag system to filter our catalogue and always find the right Token for the encounter at a moment's notice
- A user-friendly and streamlined installation process for both local hosting and a hosting solution via the Forge
- Countless little improvements to smooth out animation switching and enable individual scaling
- Improved Journals with direct access to the PDF without leaving FoundryVTT
- An updated and ever-growing catalogue of monsters, including both homebrew and classic D&D monsters!
This all comes with a small disclaimer: You'll need to download Tokens that you downloaded before the 22.11.2022 again, because every Token got updated. This means that Tokens only run with Foundry v10 and higher.
Increased user-friendliness and new guide videos!
We also redid the entire Patreon page to make integrating Beneos Tokens into your game as easy and quick as possible.
There are videos available in both english and german to guide you step by step through the set up process!
Website and Token Packs
To herald this new content, we've created our very own website - www.beneos-battlemaps.com
As part of the celebrations, we've released the first of many Token Packs. Token Packs will be a staple of our releases from now on, providing you with thematic collections of creatures that would take up too many release slots to drip feed via Patreon. These Token Packs are concise collections of digital assets for your game, lore, stats and thoughts on how to include the creatures into campaign.
Take a look at the first Token Pack - the Goblin Raiding Rabble!
The Pack includes six unique Goblin archetypes to assemble your very own chittering and cheering rabble, their skill set balanced to work alongside each other for thematic and fun encounters!
Relaunch Deal - A thank you to old and new supporters!
To celebrate this exciting new step and as a huge thank you, all current patrons already received a download link to get the Goblin Raid Rabble for free! Thanks for staying with us and for enjoying our content, working on these projects means the world to us!
If you aren't a Patron already want to join in on the festivities to fill your mugs with enough Goblin ale to seriously consider a looting spree, you can benefit from the following deal:
Subscribe to our Patreon this month and also receive the Goblin Raiding Rabble for free at the end of the month via a download link as a direct message from us!
We are looking forward to a bunch of other Token Packs, bristling with stats, creatures, loot and lore - the Goblin Raiding Rabble will soon be joined by the Iron Fist, an orcish heavy infantry formation. We can't wait to unleash heaps of demons, undead, devils and dragons, all while keeping our weekly Patreon release schedule.
Dark potents tell of mighty wings darkening the skies once more...
Thank you so much for your ongoing support, your feedback and your enthusiasm. We love what we do and interacting with you, reading your kind words and valid criticism is an amazing part of doing creative work. We really can't thank you enough!
We also can't give enough thanks to our dedicated crew manning (and womaning!) our Discord server, tirelessly offering technical support. If you want to get in on that, consider joining the Discord - they will get your Maps and Tokens up and running in no time!
As we're always grateful for input and feedback, we'd like to gain some insight into what you're currently into.

I'd like to see some things related to your battlemaps like strahd and rahadin etc. would kinda complete the module!

Player Characters, at least in the games I DM, are on every map, and in every encounter. They're in the limelight all the time. It stands to reason that I'd like them to have animations for all their activities in combat. To date, I have absolutely no animated PC tokens. I hope you'll consider making a wide range of male and female animated PC tokens for all classes, wielding as many weapons and magic items as you can. Granted this will take quite some time. But if anyone can pull it off...I think it's you. I'm looking forward to all the cool tokens you create in 2023 and beyond...Cheers!! :)
