Yetis are a chimeric breed, carrying an accumulation of odd traits from their ancestors. Who exactly those ancestors were is unclear, but the Yeti's immunity to even magical cold that far exceeds any natural resistances, as well as their regenerative healing abilites seem to imply a shared heritage based upon both the blood of Frost Giants as well as Trolls. How this unholy alliance came to pass remains mercifully unknown, but it is terrifying nonetheless.
Hunter's Quarry
Though notoriously hard to track, Yetis are worthwile prey for particuarily self-confident hunters, as two valuable parts can be harvested from a dead Yeti (it technically doesn't have to be dead, but it sure makes things easier): A coat fashioned from Yeti pelts grant cold resistance to its wearer and, if handled with proper craftsmanship and arcane aptitude, might even retain some of the Yeti's regenerative power.
The Yeti's eyes are powerful spell components, much sought after by witches for weather rituals or enchanters for imbuing weapons with the power of frost. Both parts can be harvested, each requiring a successful DC 14 Wisdom (Medicine or Nature) check and a sucessful DC 16 Dexterity (Sleight of Hands) check.
