This was an interesting set! It was our first time playing for a general audience since we started playing Songs on the Computer. It was a lot of fun! One lady bought a Hell Yup! T-Shirt with zero previous context of Desmond, G3, me or the band. It was fun attempting to give the backstory in under a minute. I
In a local review of the festival, one reporter wrote that they were "confused" by our set and couldn't tell if we were a "novelty act or serious band."
Both! Life is funny and sad. We wrestled with the idea of mixing comedy songs with earnest songs when we started playing again, but all of those insecurities flew out of the window after Chicago. Clearly there will be people who aren't on board but it's hard to sweat it when there are so many who are (AKA you).
Regarding the October Project I teased last week, I finished song #1 late last night. I've been prepping for the video all day and hope to have it finished tomorrow or Friday. I don't want to spoil anything, but I'm really excited about this one.
