He claimed his girlfriend had just died in front of him - by stabbing herself in the stomach. The next day, he was arrested and charged with her murder. But was her death a suicide or a homicide? The question would divide a community, send shockwaves through the courts, and pit two families against each other.

Idk, there is certainly reasonable doubt from what I've heard but 2 jury's convicted him based on evidence. Suicide by stabbing is rare and I feel he most likely did it. Tough case for sure

Usually, a guilty person doesn’t show relief when they’re told the person is still alive. He did. Also, the audio of him sobbing when he was told that she died made me sick to my stomach because it sounded so genuine. How heartbreaking for both families.

This was very intriguing the way that you laid out the story. Before the 2nd trial it seemed that the evidence pointed to the young man. Yet after the 2nd trial with the additional evidence, the reveal that he was a Black man, and the small town environment with very little diversity , the conviction was not surprising to me at all! I hope that the Innocence Project is working on this case will result in him getting a fair trial.
