But no matter how many quaint B & B’s or apple picking vineyards a place claims…there's evil everywhere. In May of 1981 a vicious attack against two 6th grade girls left this entire North East region locking their doors at night for perhaps the first time ever. And while the murder of 12-year-old Melissa Walbridge shook Vermont to its core, a long history of violent crimes against children were unearthed as a result…not only by parents in the community, but DCF workers at the Woodside Juvenile Rehab Center, as well…

I remember when this happened. I was 7 at the time and my parents wouldn’t let us play outside without an adult. I was informed later that one of the boys grandparent lived not far from us and they used to walk past our house to visit. Thanks for doing this episode. I’m pretty sure this is the first time a podcaster has covered it.
