I have a hack for doing your color analysis through ChatGPT if anyone is interested and doesn’t want to pay hundreds of $$$. Just take a photo of your natural face in natural light, use the color drop tool to select the colors of each aspect of your face within your phone’s photo edit options, then make little swatches of each color on your face to easily access each color. Once you’ve selected a color you can copy down the hex # of that color. I copied all my hex numbers (eyes, lips, cheeks, forehead, eyebrows, etc) into ChatGPT and asked it for my color analysis and season! It was so fun! I even asked it for a board with all my colors on it and another one with my season palette on it.

I think Kibbe is a bit silly, but I did find that looking into it helped me understand why I might like the idea of an outfit until it was on my body and everything just looked wrong. Definitely can exacerbate body image issues, but it has stopped me from repeatedly trying to put myself into outfits that I know won’t work on me and then being sad when they don’t.

Some research does show memory is impacted by amount of color words. Russian speakers might be more able to remember the specific shade (light vs dark) of a blue they saw, compared to English speakers. I’m happy to share my sources on any of this.

I’m a color scientist and can try to summarize this huge body of work. (If there’s historians in the chat I’d love to hear their takes.) Even modern languages vary in color naming—it’s less about seeing the colors (which is hard to verify) but more about amount of color words. At the bare minimum, some languages only name colors as light/dark. And some, like Russian, have separate names for light and dark blue!

I was too scared to look for too long so I turned to someone next to me (faceless) and put my face in their arm before looking back. then I realized that I was feeling v sleepy and my breathing was slowing, and that if I let myself fall asleep I would die, and the world would finally end for real. so I snapped to attention and decided no, I'm gonna fix this, and I did something to make the earth go back in its place and stopped the apocalypse. distressing!! no idea what this means :)

My mum took me to get my colours done when I was 18, and I was diagnosed winter (same as Julia) and I was also unsurprised. I love my jewel tones and my silver jewellery, although I do also enjoy wearing an autumnal russet brown/orange sometimes, which is technically forbidden. On the Kibbe stuff, I definitely fall more on the 'kill David Kibbe with hammers' end of the spectrum, despite being a (self typed) soft gamine, which is one of the ones with a less hideous description. I got really obsessed with Kibbe types in recovery from my eating disorder, and it was really just another form of endless body checking. I broadly think all of this introspection surely can't be good for us. Upon relistening to some old eps, you guys talked about 'that girl' aesthetics, and how none of it is about being a kind, honest person but rather about looking clean, althetic and hot. That's my feeling now, that really what's more important than 'dressing your lines' or 'wearing your colours' is being in clothes you can get angry in. All of this stuff just keeps us distracted from real things. I wasted years of my life crying over plates of food and my own body, when I could have been finding out about the world, and experiencing all the joy and richness that nature and life has to offer. re: the pregnancy dreams, i feel like having a dream about neglecting a pregnancy or a baby is probably because you're stressing about something you're supposed to be doing. like i have this dream all the time that i'm back in college and i'm about to graduate but i realize i forgot about a class i was enrolled in and never went to it so i failed and can't graduate. and i feel like that's almost a similar feeling of like neglecting something important i was supposed to be doing (i.e. taking care of baby)

i got my colors done a couple of years ago and am a diagnosed winter (i also did HoC but mine was only like $200??) and unfortunately my girl did cook….. i keep trying to buy warmer toned things bc i love those colors and they unfortunately flop tremendously compared to navy, black, etc (but tbf i also already knew those looked good on me). the one thing though is that i don’t think they know how to work w darker skin tones. maybe i’m just in denial because i LOVE gold jewelry but i feel like she was wrong recommending silver to me and at times got a bit stumped bc im naturally more olive/neutral toned and my skin is brown lol
