Summary: Tony Stark's first day at Kuoh Academy reveals magic hiding in plain sight.
It was a couple of weeks since they began living in Kuoh, Japan. His dad seemed to be a lot busier, but because the new headquarters were still under construction most of his work was done out of his own office at home.
His mom was still trying to get used to her way around the house most of the time, but she was helping dad with his work as well.
Tony himself took some lazy days and began researching the area. He wanted to know as much of the town as possible for two reasons. If some emergency popped up it would be smart to know his way around the town, and secondly his father spoke with him yesterday and mentioned he would want Tony's help with something later this week.
Tony was about to head toward his lab when his mom stopped him "Taro, I want to speak with you for a moment."
Considering this was a usual occurrence Tony shrugged and took a seat at the island in the center of the kitchen.
His mom gave him a smile, clapped her hands and said happily "I have a surprise for you..." Tony wondered what his mom could possibly get him, maybe some book or something "... I registered you for school."
Tony could only blink in incomprehension at his mom. He wasn't sure if this was her idea of a joke or... no, the look on her face was so happy and honest that Tony knew she meant it as she said it.
He took a deep breath and said carefully "You do know I'm one of the smartest men in the world."
His mom just kept smiling at him, now there was pride in her eyes as well which Tony found warming, but he was still confused "So why would I go to an ordinary high school? It's not like I will learn anything there."
His mom's smile faded into a frown "You spend all your time in that lab of yours with either FRIDAY or JARVIS—not that they aren't bad company, but you need real interactions, with people your age."
Tony would admit that after five years living in a house in the middle of nowhere his social skills might have some issues and he preferred to just keep to himself. It helped that he was working on one project after another to catch up to the tech he was used to from his old life.
Still Tony had to make sure he understood her right "So you are sending me to school, so I could make friends?"
Her smile came back in full force and she nodded enthusiastically.
Tony sighed, knowing there was no changing her mind and no escaping her so he just resigned to his fate "When do I start?"
His mom bent under the table and came back up with a brown, plain box, her smile radiating light "Monday. This is your uniform."
With that she began to hum to herself while returning to her baking. Tony on the other hand already felt exhausted and took the box with him down to the lab—there were a lot of adjustments he needed to make and only three days to do them.
Tony just passed through the gates of Kuoh Academy and began walking toward the main building.
He was wearing what looked like the usual uniform for boys. The white buttoned shirt with black trims tucked into his black dress pants. Over his shirt he was wearing the black jacket, though unlike most of the students he left his jacket open and decided against the tie.
Of course his uniform was special. It was made out of his Vibranium nanites, so it could be transformed into his Iron Man armor easily if needed. His left hand brushed over his chest for a moment feeling the housing unit attached to his chest and invisible to the world. On his face he wore a copy he made of the EDITH glasses he left Peter back in his old life.
Tony sighed once again and put his left hand into his pocket while his right one was over his shoulder, holding his bag.
He froze in place when he noticed something concerning. Three boys, around his age, were sitting on the ground next to a structure with the sign 'Female locker-room'. His eyes narrowed even further when he saw the boys trying to look through the wall into the room.
Tony didn't even hesitate marching toward them—when he got there he noticed two things. The boys didn't register his presence and the reason for it, which was a series of holes in the wall that allowed them to look into the room.
Tony couldn't hold back his anger as he growled out "What the hell do you think you are doing?"
The boys didn't even look away as the one with the glasses responded "Enjoying the gifts of mother nature to us gentlemen."
Tony snorted "There are a lot of words coming to mind for you three—gentleman is not one though. You better beat it or I'm going to beat you."
This drew their attention as all three stood up and turned toward Tony. The one with the long brown hair frowned and asked "Who are you?"
Tony however wasn't feeling polite right now so he snapped back rudely "The guy that will kick your asses if you are not gone from here in one minute."
The bald one seemed to have enough and with a scream of "You won't take them boobies from us!" charged at him.
Tony rolled his eyes, stepped aside and stretched his right arm sideways. The momentum of the bald guy carried him toward the stretched arm. The idiot folded over Tony's arm for a moment, then he fell groaning to the ground, holding his gut and not standing back up.
Seeing their friend being taken down like that caused the other two to charge at Tony as well. Tony dropped his bag, crouched under their fists and on his way back up punched both of them in their guts.
The other two joined the first one in laying on the ground curled in fetal position and groaning.
That was when a group of girls wielding practice Kendo swords ran into the scene. One of the girls, she had short blond hair, asked "What's going on?"
Tony put his hands in his pockets and shrugged "Found those three trying to peep on you and took care of them. By the way you should talk with the staff about those holes—they should get it sorted."
One of the other girls, she had pigtails, spoke with a disgusted tone "The perverted trio as usual."
Tony's eyebrows jumped to his hairline and he asked carefully "This is normal for them?"
The blonde sighed "Until a couple of years ago this was an all-girls school, and since they opened it a lot of perverts like them are lurking around, though these three are the worst of the bunch."
Tony's lips pursed into a tight line and all he could say was "Well I will leave these three to you ladies. And if someone else tries anything, shout for me."
Tony picked up his bag back over his shoulder and began walking away. As he walked he heard the blonde's voice calling out "Thanks for the help, but who are you?"
Tony turned his head to look at her over his shoulder and he called out "Tony Stark. I will be seeing you around."
With that he navigated between the crowd that was created during his little show and kept walking to his class.
A few minutes later he was standing in front of a classroom full of people, his usual media ready smirk on his face as the teacher introduced him "Class we have a new transfer student joining us starting today, please introduce yourself."
Tony took a step forward and gave a small, traditional bow "My name is Tony Stark, and as you can hear I was born in America. I hope we will all get along."
The teacher gave him a wide smile and introduced herself as well "I'm Sayaka Takahashi, yours and 3-A's homeroom teacher. How about you go take a seat behind Himejima-san?"
Tony gave another small bow and walked toward his seat. While he did it he passed by a red-headed female, with piercing blue eyes that seemed locked on him.
After he sat down, the girl in front of him, Himejima, turned and gave him a friendly wave with a large smile. Tony winked back at her, causing the black-haired girl to cover her mouth with her hand and turn back around.
With that the lesson began. Tony was considering taking a nap when JARVIS spoke up "Sir. Both the red-headed girl and the one in front of you have a similar signature as Maximoff."
Tony's body tensed. After the civil war with Rogers Tony grew wary of Wanda Maximoff's power, so he researched them. He found out that her magic gave her a different signature than any ordinary human. Testing it on Strange and Wong proved that his sensors could pick up on magical presences—while their powers were different and the two groups were read differently the core difference remained the same, so Tony in practicality created a magic detector.
Which now was very worrying. As he said before he couldn't find any mention of magic, aliens, superpowers or anything like that anywhere in this world. And still here were two girls with magical signatures.
Tony couldn't exactly respond to JARVIS right now, but thankfully he already had the neurolink installed and managed to use it to pass the request to his AI.
The first screen to pop up in front of him, using the lenses of his glasses so no one else was any the wiser about what he was doing, it displayed the picture of the girl he just walked past with the name 'Rias Gremory' underneath it. What confused Tony was that the only data on display was from the last three years and only from this academy. No birth-record, passport, medical history, educational history... nothing.
Tony's frown only deepened when JARVIS spoke again "It's odd sir, I have hacked into every possible agency and government with no single shred of information on Ms. Gremory. Ms. Himejima on the other hand has some official records, but they too stopped from ages 10 to 14 and the only ones since then belong to this academy."
Tony's frown was now a scowl as he looked over the profile of Akeno Himejima and confirmed everything JARVIS just said. Clearly these two girls were up to something and whatever it was they were both involved in it together. The question now remained if they were the only ones in this school.
The teacher then called up to him and asked in an amused voice "No need to be so frustrated Stark-san just because you can't solve a single equation."
Tony was confused by her comment and looked up at the screen to see an equation he would often use when designing a new armor. He tilted his head and innocently said "Actually, this problem is a piece of cake."
The amusement disappeared from her eyes to be replaced by a frown—she waved him over to the board and said with a small smirk "If you say so Stark-san please come and prove it."
Tony shrugged and replied with a simple "Sure."
As Tony took the marker from the teacher he heard a male's voice saying "Got to admire the guts it takes to actually do it."
Then a female voice, full of amusement spoke "Ara, ara, looks like someone enjoys pain and humi..."
The voice trailed off when Tony began solving the problem on the board. It took him less than a minute to solve the entire thing. He turned to the teacher with a smirk and said "Like I said teach, a piece of cake."
The teacher kept looking between her book and the board while mumbling "That's high-level university problem, how?"
Tony just shrugged and began walking back to his seat casually ignoring the shocked looks he was receiving. Tony Stark had no intention to hide his genius—if someone wanted to challenge him they could go right ahead.
