DOTU Website, Feature requests, Interactive Ch.1, and more!
🕑 Added 2020-08-17 21:26:43 +0000 UTCHere's what's going on in DOTU world! :D
1. Public Pages update
We're currently 7 patrons away from public pages - VERY CLOSE! Merritt's Story p2ch26 goes up this Thursday, and we also have a new DOTU page next Monday!
As always, big thanks to every new and continuing patron for sticking with the comic! Also, y'all have been *awesome* about sharing the comic with friends and getting new readers and patrons! <3
If we hit our goal by our 9/15 target, I definitely plan to at least temporarily increase my update speed on Patreon while public pages are posting!
2. Website Upgrades
To prepare for public pages, I'm doing some website fix-ups. They'll go live soon! Here's a shot of the renovated desktop version:
You can compare to the current version here! (keep in mind the layout is different on mobile.)
Here's what's coming to the website:
- Design update/bug fixes - DONE!
- Improved news module with archive - DONE!
- Improved, in-depth character pages and comic archive
- Glossary of DOTU terms (long-term project, but starting soon!)
- Chapter recaps (long-term project)
- Vertical scroll episode option (long-term project)
- Integrated Patreon extras (long-term project)
I'm open to feature requests! If there's anything else you'd love to see on the DOTU site, let me know! If it's within the scope of my technical abilities (or if you/someone you know who's good with PHP is willing to help), I'll see about adding it to my list.
3. GlobalComix Interactive Reader
I was also invited to do some user testing on GlobalComix, and it turns out they have an "interactive" reading feature that's really cool! I do like making vertical/scroll mobile-format episodes like I had on Tapas and Webtoon, but they take forever and you lose the original pages. Here's how this alternative format works (ch3 preview) :
You can check out the "interactive" chapter 1 here! (more chapters coming soon)
4. MORE
It's a Sketch Tier month, so be sure to keep an eye on Discord if you want to join in on suggesting any sketch ideas!
Oh, and also I'm somehow managing to still squeeze in a tiny bit of card deck art. XD Here are some inks:
Freya, Magnas, Pangolin, Noble!
And that's it for now!
