It was confirmed by CRWBY that Cinder never got any of Raven's maiden powers when she started to drain them back in volume 5. So I'm guessing she also didn't get any of Penny's powers either in this instance, since she was draining it for about the same amount of time.

I'm guessing that Emerald's ability must affect the aura somehow, since she could sort of affect Penny. But Penny had heat signature tracking, so she was able to identify the real Cinder.

Emerald don't change your vision. It's more like a mental thing. I assume since she can also affect Penny makes her semblance more broken than I thought lol
