The fast-charge mania is delightful for the carbon lobby, because it wastes so much time and resource to provide the wrong answer. But it makes sense to people who do not yet have EVs. What you really need is pervasive cheap chargers and cheap high capacity, high cycle endurance batteries. When you park your EV at work, plug it in to any one of many ordinary outlets in the parking lot, authorize and lock the outlet with a contactless tap of your phone or credit card, and work all day without needing to rush out to deal with your car like when they install a small number of expensive high speed chargers and everyone has charger-anxiety. Plus charging at home. The need for high speed chargers is very rare with an EV and if it takes 30 minutes to get 50% charge that is usually enough. Folks with more long distance driving may want to pay extra, but if you talk to EV owners you will find most see these super-rapid chargers as excessive, and they are far more concerned to ensure there are ordinary chargers available for neighborhoods with street parking (I've seen that some places now integrate outlets into street lamps) and garages for apartment buildings. If you believe the propaganda about super-fast charging you will not solve those needs, just waste money and delay a good, pervasive solution. EVs do not need electric gas stations. But people invested in gas stations would like to persuade you otherwise...

Li-Ion batteries are fine. The trick with EVs is to charge them overnight, this way you never have to _wait_ for the battery to charge.

Say what you will about them, but teenagers have this one figured out. Face permanently in the phone, AirPods never leave the ear. Good luck striking up a conversation.

Who needs a terabyte? That barely covers two days of TikTok videos, should the WiFi go out. Re fast phone charging, imagine pulling up to the in-laws for a family party with your device at 5%. What would you give then for a minute boost to 50%?

Small talk can be annoying while you sit there, waiting for the battery to be charged
