Content changes, a brief explanation
🕑 Added 2023-12-08 07:37:26 +0000 UTCI've gotten a lot of question about the recent content changes on the YouTube channel, with the move from the weekly news to daily news.
The issue I have, in a nutshell, is the following. I see in my comments, here and elsewhere, that you are asking both for reactions on recent news and for in-depth coverage of more general questions. I am trying to address both. So, we have short, short-notice reactions that we can produce within a week. And then we have longer, in-depth coverage that usually takes several months to produce.
Now, as it's been going in the past year, the turnout for the science news has been mediocre too often. In addition, because of the news I have had to cut back time for the in-depth coverage, which is why they have become shorter. The changes underway right now are supposed to remedy both issues.
First, we are moving the science news to a daily schedule that I think will make it easier for you to select the ones you are interested in, and it should also make it easier for new people to discover the content. It just works badly on YouTube to have several different topics in one video. Of course, most people who click on it won't know really what they get, and some of them, understandably, don't like that. We will select all news items in a playlist, so that you can watch them back to back if you want to.
Second, we will move the longer in-depth coverage to a slower schedule. We haven't yet fully worked out the details, which is why I haven't mentioned it, but most likely beginning of next month, the usual Saturday video will become a less regular one that, however, will increase in length again. I also want to slightly change the format, which will take time to sort out.
All together, the plan is that this will decrease quantity and increase quality. It just appears to be increasing quantity because we're splitting up the previous video that lumped together several items.
In the end, I am trying to find a format that works for both you and me, so if you have feedback or comments, please let me know.

Sabine - I watch your daily videos every morning and very much look forward to them regardless whether they are short or long, 1 topic or ten. I actually prefer lots of topics mixed together. Also - I agree with Thomas. Well said Thomas. I live in tech every day and very much enjoy Sabine's news and explanations from a field which I did not study. I'm in LA, vielen dank Sabine!

I saw somewhere an analysis of YouTube concluding that what matters is the relatable-ness of the person in the videos. You are terrific. You explain cool stuff in cool ways. Selfishly, I ask you to please pace yourself, so you can avoid the burnout that seems to have taken out some well known creators, lately. Besides, in my opinion your critical reasoning skills are unique. Literally. We need you!

Well, you support her here, right? More than the most do. But for me the videos are worth every single minute, because of her hilarious and very special personality.
I confess that I primarily read the transcripts, and only view the videos if something in the transcript needs illustration. Reading is faster than viewing. I wonder if my behavior (and that of others like me) is throwing off the statistics, and perhaps the monetization as well.
Preußen? From a german's view, I would say, it doesn't exist anymore, buried after the first world war, together with the dynasty of their kings (Hohenzollern). Frankfurt is Hessen, what you surely know. Think, her family's home always was Heidelberg (southwest Germany) since she's back in Germany about twothousand sixteen, where her husband works, as far as I know. She always traveled a lot for her work. So Munich might not be an exception, but I'm not sure, what's her job there (she does surely still research on QM and superdeterminism).
