The guy plaing the Frenchman in the first movie was John Malkovitch. I think it is safe to say that however good or bad his accent was, it was deliberate. I don't thinkn Malkovitcch does anything by accident.

Conkers is a game we play in the UK as kids, maybe other places too.. we take Chestnuts (the ones in spiky cases) and put a long string through them. Then, you hold the string so they dangle and take turns hitting your opponents 'conker' with yours.. the first one to break off the string loses.. we used to soak them in vinegar also to harden them.. :D
