Oh shit!! The start of this episode broke me. Dementia took both of my Grandmas and it’s the worst thing ever. Nobody knows what it’s actually like to have dementia at the end as nobody survives to tell us. All I know is that my Grandma was non verbal and they told us she understood nothing. Then Covid hit and the first lock down. My mum told her that she wouldn’t be able to visit for a few weeks or months because an illness was going round. One tear rolled down her cheek and she didn’t eat or drink anything else again and died 3 days later. I prefer to think that they understand a lot more than they can vocalise and get out of their mouth. Even if I’m wrong it just means that we treat them the way we shoud.

Ricky Gervais knows exactly what he’s doing in this episode 😂😭.

After Work Reactions

LOL I agree he did a great job on this series =]

After Work Reactions

LOL that scene was tough man!

Jack Veazey

God damn I love Carl in this series. Can tell he just wrote all of his lines himself hahaha

Sam Reeves

I am a complete robot when it comes to emotions but this episode always gets me. Even the Coldplay song, which I normally can't stand, works perfectly. Great writing and acting all round.

After Work Reactions

I will for sure thanks bud!

Lew_riddle95

Please watch the outtakes mate. Absolutely hilarious

Faisal Ramzan

Not the best episode for Derek but looking back it really does throw up some important questions in self reflection. I don't know why it usually takes a death/funeral for this to happen though.

ChrisW

agreed. Ricky is a genius how he can make you laugh one minute and make you cry the next. His writing and acting and directing skills are top notch on everything he has done

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud I enjoyed it alot!

After Work Reactions

Yea Dementia is terrible man, this was a tough episode to sit through.

Mick Mills

A very sad episode. The old girl who played the Lizzy character is very underrated, don't think I've ever seen her in anything else. I mean, she can't really be senile but she really did act the part well.

Gary Tamblyn

I think that’s why so much happened in the first (pilot) episode. It was to give a flavour of what the series was about.

After Work Reactions

It was a great episode!

Z is for Zed

Bum gravy.

After Work Reactions

LOL it was just my allergies. This was a tough one but very good!

After Work Reactions

Yes it was very sad but they did a great job with it!

After Work Reactions

For sure this episode was tough. No problem happy you enjoyed!

After Work Reactions

Yea this was a tough on but very good! Thanks bud lol yea it kind of looks like our cat Pugsley =]

Daryl

Crying into my dinner.... Not a good look. I work in pharmacy and I did some training last year regarding dementia. It was designed to help us understand what it's like for the patient and their families. It had case studies which made me cry. So I didn't stand a chance with this. 😭

Lee Organ

It was a pleasure to share this episode with you Josh

Mark garrett

Love this series very thought provoking my favourite part is your comment at the end Josh I don’t want to cry at Coldplay ha 😭

Ben

You would have seen Derek's dad before, (the actor I mean). He was in Father Ted, a very very minor role in one episode, but interesting enough that you've seen a few actors recurring in multiple shows.

Leon Mizon

This must be the 5th time I’ve seen the episode. Gets me every single time, Gervais is a genius.

Steve Small

😭😭😭

Jay

The part that really gets me, is when Kev says "there's a war in my head everyday". That was such a strong analogy of depression and mental health, especially from a character that most people have judged to be annoying, rude or a waste of time. I thought that showed just how important it is not to be so judgemental when you don't know what a person is going through.

Danny

They did another series and an hour long special after that to wrap it up. Karl goes at the end of episode 1 series 2. I didn't watch much more of it after he left, think I only recall 2 episodes I think I watched

Danny

Just realised with you putting this as episode 7, on the U.S. Netflix it is counting the pilot episode as episode 1. When it aired over here they had the pilot then the series started fully 10 months later.

(Just) Steve

Are you suffering from Hayfever, Josh? Your eyes seemed a bit watery towards the end! ;) This episode got me too, damn you Coldplay!

Claire Prowse

Kevs bit always has me in floods of tears... every single time!😭

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Well that was a grim one lol. You held it together better than I did. Thank you so much for that link.

Andrew G

Was a shock to see this side of Kev, great tv you did well to hold it together Josh, I failed miserably lol good reaction. Thanks for the link not seen that before interesting. Oh! one more thing is Mr Furry pants a member of the family I'm sure I've seen a cat similar to the one on your t shirt jump on your desk at one of your shows lol

Alex

This felt like the end of complete show rather than the end of season 1. Felt like they wrapped up most things were well. Did they get the go ahead for another season after this?

Tony Smyth

Kev is like Super Hans on valium. (Don't ask me how I know. I just know, aw'right?)
