I’m Scottish and I was born in 1996. My dad was addicted to heroin and died when I was almost 3, he died of an overdose on methadone and Valium. It was so bad here in the 90s with it, so many people from that generation are still addicted to it in my area

Fred bates

You should watch the 2nd one now.

Nichole Hutchison

And The Football Factory. Both great movies

After Work Reactions

That is awesome =]

Contex - It's Just A Ride

Just realised when he moved to London this was filmed in North end road, where I was born and raised right next to the Three Kings pub.

After Work Reactions

Awesome bud I will check that out!

After Work Reactions

Oh man that sounds gnarly =/ lol. Oh ok awesome man!

Paul Hynes

another movie to suggest is Green Street

(Just) Steve

I went to a bar in Amsterdam that had a toilet worse than the one shown in this film. I was the first of our group to use it so when warning everyone else I literally said that it was like the one from Trainspotting! As you like Sci-Fi and comics you might recognise Ewen Bremner/Spud as Charlie from Wonder Woman and Robert Carlyle as the main character (whose name currently eludes me) from Stargate Universe.

Thanks bud!

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud! Knowing it is chocolate doesn't make it better lol

After Work Reactions

Haha lol thanks bud! It was a great film I enjoyed it alot. LOL man it was pretty nasty at times.

After Work Reactions

True!

After Work Reactions

Happy you enjoyed it bud! I will put that on my list man thanks.

Jak

Thanks Josh enjoyed the movie! I will definitely be voting for the sequel in a future poll

Manly Stump

I don't know if you recognised Spud. He played Mullet in Snatch, the guy Bullet Tooth Tony dragged down the road by the car window!

Ashley Wilcockson

A couple of fun facts. The opening scene where they are playing football. The team they are playing against are recovering/recovered heroin addicts. Also the toilet scene. It was melted chocolate.

Joe Gardiner

Was great watching along with you today while I pretended to work :P Such an iconic film, so well written and shot. So many good scenes but the cold turkey scene in his bedroom is up there for me. And I'd forgotten how much literal shit there is in this as well :D

Callum Guy

Renton put £2000 in to start with though, so his cut should be higher than 4k

Jake Harrison

I didnt think i would enjoy this movie but it was actually really good mate, can you please react to dead man's shoes, top tier film

Mick Mills

Irvine Welsh is a great writer.

After Work Reactions

That is awesome man it was a great movie I enjoyed it a whole lot. The song does sound familiar like it has been in other movies I have seen. I will add the second film to a future poll bud!

After Work Reactions

Ugh sounds terrible lol

After Work Reactions

Interesting, I will add the second one to my list thanks bud!

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud I will add it to a future movie poll!

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud!

After Work Reactions

After Work Reactions

That is awesome man thanks for the info!

After Work Reactions

LOL I liked it alot man it was super interesting and just a really intense movie.

After Work Reactions

It was a great film bud, very intense but still good.

After Work Reactions

Awesome thanks bud I will add it to a future poll =]

After Work Reactions

LOL man I can't imagine.

After Work Reactions

LOL I couldn't do it man! That was rough to sit through.

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud I will add it to my list!

After Work Reactions

I can see that man I did not expect that intense of a movie lol

After Work Reactions

Awesome bud, I may have to look into the book to read at a later date.

Leo Stewart-Smith

the toilet scene was 1000 times more discusting in the book

Max Lown

Would definitely recommend checking out the sequel T2 Trainspotting that came out a couple of years ago. It answers a lot of the questions left at the end of this film and Danny Boyle does a great job directing it.

Andy Farmer

I know a lot of people have commented to tell Josh that only the first 2 live Bottom shows were any good, but personally I loved them all. I went to see 2001 Arse Oddity at Hammersmith Apollo and laughed my arse off it was brilliant haha, as was Hooligans Island and also Weapons Grade Y Fronts, so hopefully Josh will end up watching them all, fingers crossed :-D

Chris

It's hard to get across just how this film captured the zeitgeist of mid 90s Britain. It's an absolute classic. Glad you enjoyed it.

Keith Pratt

Hackers, came out the year before Trainspotting.

Ste_UTB

I love how you are appreciating British movies Josh throughout their drama and humour; most people would have been like wtf are these guys making me watch 😂

Mick Mills

Some interesting facts from this movie. Johnny Lee Miller is not only Sherlock Holmes in 'Elementary' but he was also Angelina Jolie's first husband. They both also starred together in a good movie about 30 years ago.

Chris H

Funny you should mention 28 Days Later at the end, that and Trainspotting were both directed by Danny Boyle. I don't think 28 Weeks Later was though, that's the one with Begbie/Robert Carlyle in.

Jeremy O Dwyer

Just want to add my voice to the people saying that Boyles previous film Shallow Grave is good. It's a 90's British classic in my opinion. Very watchable, compelling and was Ewan Mcgregors big breakout performance.

Chris H

I saw that movie once 20 years ago and some scenes are etched into my memories forever, it was good but hands down the most depressing movie I've ever seen. Million Dollar Baby gave it a good run for it's money though!

Jeremy O Dwyer

It's Atomic by Blondie if you're looking for it.

Keith Pratt

Oh, and he did leave Spud his full share of £4000.

Manly Stump

That song when he meets Diane at the bar sounds a lot like "Myra" by Blouse XD

Johnny87

Hey Josh. Great reaction. If you liked this, you'll love shallow grave.

Jake Cross

Good suggestion

Keith Pratt

This film holds so much nostalgia for me. I saw it in a packed cinema when it came out and the scene where Spud and his girlfriend's mum wrestle with the sheets got such a big laugh when the shit went flying. The song at the end, "Born Slippy .NUXX" by Underworld became a massive hit because of the film. It seemed to get played wherever I went back then. Some people criticised the film, saying it glorified drug use, which of course is complete nonsense. It makes me wonder if they watched more than the first few minutes. "T2 Trainspotting" is the perfect sequel. I hope it gets voted in soon while the first film is still fresh in your mind.

will doyle

And now its time for you to watch Requiem for a dream lol

Adamski

He injected into his junk, because after awhile the veins collapse in the arms.

Joe S

This is an unpopular opinion, not because it wasnt well received though, but the sequel is actually a more enjoyable film all round. Which is a big statement and a big compliment

mikexcity

If Shallow Grave isn't on the list josh, please add it. For me it's the best film Danny Boyle has done.

Austyn Shaw

Could you add the Bottom live shows to the next film polls Josh? They’re virtually the same length

TheHigh

lol and there's me eating my waffles while watching this scene with ya ahhaha

will doyle

You'll have to watch T2 after this, obviously not as good but its a nice followup on the characters.

Daryl

Oh, I'm gonna store this one for another time. Such a great film, but not got the mind set for this today.

Dave Barratt

Been looking forward to this, finished the book the other day and have been waiting to watch it again! Trust me, the film is so much easier to understand than the book!
