Magnation year in review
🕑 Added 2024-12-03 00:34:31 +0000 UTChello, its me magbo
its time for that yearly post when i ramble about things and you share your thoughts on how the contents been going: which parts of it you like, which parts of it you dislike, what youd like to see more or less of, what do you think of the current content distribution system, what do you think of the community engagement polls, suggestions, commissions, doodles so many doodles. you get the idea, share your thoughts if you feel like, ill give em all a read.
ill try not to drag on too much, no one reads these anyway lol
so i found this year interesting, switching from doing art on the side to doing it full time. started doing commissions again, its alright, i dont hate it yet. overall enjoyed my time so far.
for the first time i tried looking up some tutorials to try and learn more about art and get better at it. main focus has been lighting and shadows, still fighting old habits but i think i made progress. i got some helpful input from >Akkusky<, shoutout i guess. got new brushes too to help with rendering. been interested in getting more texture on my pictures as well.
tried doing the league VN collaboration project with Monsinne. it was an interesting experience even if it didnt lead to anything and the project got scrapped after the demo. it may have had potential but with a very slow start it wouldve taken a lot of time to get off the ground and that wasnt great for motivation to keep working on it. ive also gotten pretty bored of drawing the usual league characters anyway.
doodles have been a new addition to the content pool. i have way too many things id like to draw so they help get ideas on paper as a proof of concept and with some colors i think theyre alright as filler content to sift through. i have fun doing them tho they are piling up rather fast, maybe ill need to start polishing them more often in the future.
i feel like the polls have been a bit of a hit and miss, on paper they seem like a fun idea and then you realize people tend to come out and vote for one of few specific things every time, i guess id prefer them to have more unexpected results. i guess theyre alright, will see if id want to change them up in the future.
sponsorship program is a neat feature i think. i got more people asking for it these last few months than i expected, i was anticipating maybe 1 a month. it also offers an alternative route of getting a discount pic without having to wait forever in the commission queue (the downside being you get much less input into the process). since i still do my own stuff i dont think theres any downside to it being a thing.
the monthly pic randomizer has definitely been a thing, there have been some bangers and there have been some duds. ngl kinda happy sorakas and ahris are in the minority of suggestions now. its alright i think, personally the worst one i got out of it i think was the very first suggestion for neeko, really disliked working on that one. shrek donkey and dragon was definitely the funniest.
i may have forgotten something but thats ok, just writing this as i go.

next year im hoping to keep working more on getting better at art overall, theres a lot of room to improve. ive done about 10 finished pics a month this year + sketches and some 250+ doodles (a third of which are of porsha lol) but i still feel like i couldve done more, so many sketches to finish. would also like to try and work on some mini comics or small pic series like the occasional triptychs that show up.
i also need to work on reaching out and expanding my audience. i dont interact with almost any other artist, maybe if i reached out a bit it would be good. who knows.

there you go, those are my thoughts. let me know what are yours.
thanks for all the support, youre peak goats and biggest chads in the world and im glad i can do what i do because of you all. keep being based

Super happy I bumped into your stuff--it absolutely got me interested in weird, hot stuff that I had no idea about before. With regards to trying to resolve the 'same voted stuff', could put it all into a wheel or randomizer and weight it towards which stuff got voted? It's more likely you'd get the voted stuff, but there's still a chance for all new ideas. Don't know if that'd run afoul any Patreon rules, though.

You never disappoint, every little doodle and finished project is a banger and it's been awesome to watch you work and improve over time. Keep it up and happy holidays- P.S. Keep up the docking, something me and Vanrixie can agree with

i know sketches are less interesting to look at but they are what they need to be for me to start coloring. i could potentially do a simple monochrome fill to break up the monotonous linework before posting as this is also the first step towards coloring anyway.

I've been loving the work put out of this year and it's good to hear you're getting something out of the creative process as well. I'm relieved the VN project died out tbh, because most creators think making games are easy before it consumes their time trying to make it fun/work at all. But it was still nice to see. The poll winners haven't been too surprising, but the amount of appeal between some options is huge - maybe if the options were more even we'd see some upsets (e.g. all options are solo characters, etc.). I'm not that obsessed with Porsha, but you draw her in so many different ways and it resulted in a lot more art, so I see this as an absolute win. Mega has been a good system for me, no complaints here on keeping the content a bit more secure. Doodles upgraded into Sketches is a mixed bag. Doodles are colored and more exciting but when they become Sketches, you lose color and some energy. But that brings them one step closer to becoming finished pieces, so it is what it is. Though I think adding "some" color into a sketch could be a trap and take up more time or push it all the way into a finished piece lol.

The Good: Docking/Urethral Shenanigans, Xayah's Mom, Milf Characters, Catus-es The Not Really Bad, Just Tiresome: Porsha galore, other characters that I don't care for The Other: I think its been about 50/50 this year on if I liked a piece or not (all depends on the character/s). The stuff I did like was pretty good, even amazing in some cases (keep doing that). The stuff I didn't - just wasn't my taste, can't really do anything about that. The demo for the League VN was fun (first time playing a VN), but can't say I'm too disappointed by its cancellation. Doodles are neat. Sponsorship program is cool (someday I'll join the wall). Overall: I still like your art and I'll keep supporting ya for as long as I can.

Happy you're enjoying doing art full time, the doodles have been great and it mean I usually end up seeing more of what I want if I'm less enthused about the pieces with more effort. Not to say I've disliked any of what you've done, just really not a fan of puffy or overly protruding pussys/assholes, especially with excessive cum. Could take or leave Porsha, but the content she's in (rich bitch with fake tits my beloved) is usually peak so it's all good. Really liked the rest of what you've done; monsters are good, more dick variations are fantastic and I'll never say no to smoking milfs. Really wish more creators did something like your sponsorships, phenomenal middle ground between commissions and hoping your request gets picked. Here's to an even better 2025!

Greeting! Been one hell of a year. I think there was a good variety of work this year and it is good that you enjoyed a lot of what you drew (hoping the ones you did for me you enjoyed). The wheel is fun. Everyone gets a chance to have their idea come to life and I hope that continues. As for what I want to see more of, you can never go wrong with more anal and urethra fucking (sorry Grafted). Anyway, great work as always and I hope you have a good rest of the year and holiday season!

I think you're putting out a good amount of content. I'm a simple man, if everything you put out was nothing but Ahri I'd be happy but I understand how that could get tiring and kill your enjoyment. I doubt I'd ever do the doodle sponsorship but I'm glad that is having good turnout for you, so I hope that continues to grow. I think collaborations with other artists could be fun but is obviously work. I've had a hard time with it but I think using the mega link with the folders has been a nice improvement. It's easy to say on the outside but whatever keeps you making your art I'll support. Hope you have a good rest of the year!

In contrast to grafted, I would like to see more docking/cock in cock/sheath action and other kinky stuff, though it cant all be kinky stuff, good to have vanilla and other (funny) and interesting things in the mix.
GraftedNormalcy
I liked a lot of your content this year! the amusing artworks are the best ones for me. Dislike the amount of docking though, want less of that. As long as you draw kitsune on occasion, I'll be happy!

the post is a little early but things are about to wind down a little for the holiday season and all that. hope you find some time to have a good time and chill out
