I'm glad you liked this episode, Josh. I loved the part where Brian was taking her upstairs too, There is a lot of humour in here that probably doesn't translate. In many ways, it is a nostalgia piece about northern English working clubs that have largely disappeared. Beyond the more raucous moments in this show, the seemingly quiet moments of the show are filled with a dry cynical working-class wit that is naturally embedded in the conversation rather than the formulaic feed line punch line + laughter track format of so many other sitcoms. Personally, I find series 1 stronger for reasons I will save for now to avoid spoilers, but this episode and "Disco Inferno" are high points for me. An outrageous comedic situation driving the story, but masterfully punctuated with that unique subtle and cynical humour that so many other shows lack.

Apart from the the stair lift scene, I loved the Mary, Joseph and the joinery joke that Josh missed. Very subtle comedy but made me chuckle. There was a few jokes like that in this episode.

if you're going to watch the documentary about the Iranian embassy raid it NEEDS to be the real doc (the one with actual interview of the sas guys who went in there) the animated one is good and all but does not do it justice whatso ever imo! another amazing reaction for youtube would be "fly with the raf quick reaction alert crews" its such a fantastic watch and explains how every single second there are people ready to defend our skies at a moments notice.
