I know you may think that doing some light research before that episode wasn't necessary, but you're coming at it from the perspective that you now know who Les Dennis is. Whether the jokes were specific to certain episodes that you watched wouldn't matter as if you hadn't watched anything you would have spent the whole episode wishing you had, and wondering whether you would have found the whole thing hilarious if you had. if you had gone into it not knowing who he was, a lot of the jokes would have fallen flat, you just didn't notice how many of them there would have been because you did the research and that information was available to your brain.

This was a great episode with so many awkward scenes. Ricky really knows how to make these characters shine. You have to look up Melinda Messenger page 3 if you haven't already!

100 %, the show gets the big stars playing the opposite of what they are really like, that's the funny! Everyone, from start to finish, were incredibly 'good sports' about it. Goes to show just how loved Ricky is.

I wouldn't say he was homophobic, more working class brought up in a time where he wouldn't of been exposed to gay people so its a oddity worthy of being pointed out in his eyes, he doesn't harbor any malice over it.

It's funny the whole friendship between Andy and Maggie is near on exactly the same as Ricky and Karl. There's no way it didn't have an influence. He knew Karl before this and even uses the same kinda weird question stuff he has asked Karl, like would he rather have hands for feet or feet or for hands. Something daft like that. Karl makes an appearance in the special , which is essentially the last episode, as an extra. He made a 11 minute video of his day on set to, well worth a watch when you've watched the series and special

Andy Millman is a slightly homophobic character. It's the kind that doesn't really do any harm, but it is in there and it does help the comedy to exploit that.

Les' line at the end ("If it's up there, I'll give you the money myself") is one of his catchphrases from Family Fortunes, in the event of unlikely correct answers. He actually suggested this line to Ricky and Steve, and they loved it and kept it in!

Really appreciate how much work you go to on these! Most people wouldn’t do the research. I don’t think you’ll need to do the research for the next episodes, out of the 8 left not including the Christmas specials maybe Chris Martin the lead singer of Coldplay is the only one you won’t know.

I love the consistency of the writing on this show. When lizzie is trying to get Maggie to come to her party she says 'I cant my sister...' before getting cut off. Shes still trying to use the excuse Andy told her to use in episode 1 😂
