0.3 Design: Customization
🕑 Added 2022-03-29 12:56:19 +0000 UTCIt looks like the winner for 0.3 is the customization update! As with all these, the plan is to bundle it with a lot of quality of life stuff.
Planned Changes
Clothing
While the variety of clothing may never hit SM1 levels because of the new character engine, the plan is to import as much as possible. As before, this will involve some new tools in the character inspection for setting clothing.
Hair
As with clothing, the plan is to import as much as possible from SM1, but with some improved shaders so they look a little bit better. This will also include hair colors.
Animations
Since I scrapped the old animation engine, there are several animations that couldn't be used. The plan is to redo the male actor animations so that I can bring them back into the game. That should restore the variety that SM1 had, though with a lot less jank.
Other Changes
- Streamlined assignments from the slave list.
- A center point indicator on the floor when building.
- Button to skip the tutorial.
- Wall cutaway modes for easier building.
- Rules assistant (probably, depending on how much time it ends up taking).
- Better names and organization of face and body morphs in the surgery panel.
- Only allow surgery if the relevant structures have been built.
- Keyboard layout support.
- Balancing planet upgrades (probably limiting the number that can be constructed in any one system).
- Tribute.
- Various minor bugfixes that have been reported since launch.

Personally, I find the walls too thick. Could you add a wall plot to the builder that isn’t a full block but rather a thin wall to separate different sections? Like 20-30% of the width of a block. Centered on the block with different pieces to make turns and intersections.
