Status Update for 0.2
🕑 Added 2021-02-25 05:05:02 +0000 UTC0.2 is coming along, and will probably be separated into a couple parts. The first will contain primarily new character events and a redesign of personalities. I'm also working with an artist to redo my placeholder animations, and the first of those should show up in 0.2 as well.
Part of the reason this is taking some time is that I'm redesigning personalities from the ground up. The obedience/fear spectrum works to an extent, but it always felt a bit game-y, and I think it overlooked the more interesting elements of character development.
In 0.2, I'm planning on a archetype-based training system. Instead of characters reacting based on their obedience and fear stats, they will fall into one of several personality "buckets." In Stationmaster, these were things like "Devoted," "Mindbroken," and "Corrupted." Exalted will have several more to encompass a wider range, and many of the new events will focus on characters' transitions between them.
Hopefully, this will allow for more interesting interactions, and give you a bit more power to affect the development of the people on your cathedral (for example, a "bratty" Exalted could be convinced to be a bit more formal, or left as-is. Insanity can be fostered in the hope of generating a mystic with special powers, or used as a weapon to ensure permanent obedience).
