Malakim - A New Horizon
🕑 Added 2024-11-10 13:39:52 +0000 UTCFor years, many of you have asked for angels—celestial warriors to descend from the heavens of Mundus, bringing divine justice and radiant power to your tables. We’re thrilled to finally unveil The Malakim, a project I'm working on currently that is been both a labor of love and a creative experiment that bridges the familiar realms of fantasy with the possibilities of a distant future.
As always, you can expect the level of care and dynamic design that Artisan Guild is known for, but this time, there's a twist. 🚀

Malak Vindicator D, Kit I and Kit II.
✨A Hybrid of Timeless Fantasy and New Possibilities
When designing the Malakim, I wanted to give them the majestic presence of divine, ascended warriors—angels whose might and presence inspires awe.
However, as the requests for angels have continued over the years, I’ve also noticed the growing interest in something that could go beyond the borders of classic fantasy: the echoes of a distant, almost mythological future.
This is where the concept of Gun and Sorcery was born.
A realm not limited by time—a distant echo of Mundus, where magic and divine powers intertwines with technology, a far-off epoch that retains the soul of classic fantasy while exploring new depths of what warriors like the Malakim could be in a distant future.
🗡️ Fantasy Meets Gun and Sorcery – A Modular Experience
The modular nature of this set, the same modularity that characterize my sculpts. let you choose how your Malakim take the field:
For the fantasy purists, we’ve provided a full array of holy melee weapons, from double bladed swords to hammers and shields. The classic angelic wings are there too, spreading light and inspiration, coming in various shapes compatible with the full unit.
For those intrigued by the vision of a distant, possible future, we’ve created options like the Fulgur Castigum Gun, abbreviated to Fulgur Gun and Fulgur Pistol and the Reliquarium Backpacks. These backpacks, that you can use instead of wings, carry the remains of these holy warriors before their ascendence to sacred Malak, symbolizing the blend of technology and reverence, of gun and sorcery.
I wanted each Malak to be both timeless and adaptive. The helmet options, for example, come in a style that can be interpreted as either sacred or futuristic, allowing for total freedom in how these warriors fit into your vision of Mundus—or even beyond.
On top of that, if you are not interested in wings or reliquarium backpack, and want to use them as mortal champions, no problem: I'm including little socket filler to close the gap of the armor in the back. These will make for fantastic Requiem Vindicators in both their version with and without helmet.

Malak D, Kit I using Wings and two handed maul, Kit II from the distant future wielding a Fulgur Castigum Gun and a Reliquarium Backpack.
✨Modular to the Core
Each of these elements is designed to be fully modular: Helmet or not, wings or backpack, sword, hammer or rifle—you decide. This was done to ensure that the Malakim can be what you want them to be, have tons of fantasy options as always, and something more.
Purely fantasy warriors, descending upon the enemies of Mundus.
Or perhaps, sci-fi infused champions, embodying a distant, forgotten legacy.
🪽Who are the Malakim?
The Malakim are the ascended warriors of Sol, bound to serve within Ghaomir’s Shattered Aetherium, a crumbling realm of divine justice and radiant ruins born after his defeat. When Ghaomir fell to the treachery of Tialevor, Sol the Holiest was left as the guardian of this broken celestial prison.
There, the Malakim, the ascended spirits of the most valorous warriors of Mundus, often Dragonpeaks Barbarian and Requiem Templar, train eternally amidst the floating ruins, awaiting the call to defend the sanctity of creation and the holy place where their Lord is regenerating through the prayers of his believers. Empowered by Ghaomir’s blessing and guided by Sol’s unwavering spirit, they bring order and justice in realms beyond the boundaries of the mortal realms.

🗡️A Distant Future, but Still Mundus
This project has opened my mind to the idea that the story of Mundus doesn’t have to be confined to one era. Could there be a distant future, shrouded in myth? A future where warriors still hold the ideals of the past but march forward with new tools and new challenges? Could this be the origin of what we call Gun and Sorcery?
It’s an idea worth exploring from time to time, when the theme of the release suits the concept, but always, without limiting the fantasy possibilities of each set. Only bonuses, nothing to lose.
As you might imagine, I'm still working hard on the set and not even half of it is sculpted.
I'll do my best to bring more exciting sculpts and modular option as I continue designing these inspiring characters!
Which version will you choose?
Thank you for all the support and requests over the years—it’s your passion that keeps me pushing the boundaries of what we can create together. 🌟

This is just the one patreon I have to keep month after month. Top notch stuff as always!

incredibly cool! this is exactly what I needed! I love you! <3 :D Now I'm hot as hell and I'm looking forward to appearing! cheers!

These models are looking so gorgeous. I'm incredibly excited about these for the many possibilities and ways to assemble, paint and yes scale up for display level painting. Wow! Just, Wow!

Oh good God in heaven, please go with the Dark Angels theme! That would really be wonderful. Additionally, I absolutely love "Mikael, Hand of Righteous Wrath". Mikael is a model I will definitely blow up in size to 10", paint and give them to my family as Christmas gifts. I hope the surface texture details are sufficient for the increase. I'm so excited for this model. Please make it huge! Thank you so much.

Absolutely. I feel most of the miniatures Andrea sculpts are suited for D&D but I have noticed its getting a lot more options for units and can be used for large scale wargames as well which is fantastic. And more options are always great!
Mercurius
Agreed. As someone who grew up on WH40K in the 90s and then transitioned into fantasy miniatures as my primary preference in the past few decades, I love having both options and stuff that references my prior interests but can fit into D&D...

When I first saw the wip, I was like oh look these look like Space Marines. Then I noticed the bolter wielding warrior and I was like oh wow they are Marines! I think the idea of using the base mini and having options of Scifi and Fantasy is amazing. Although I know you are one for the fantasy genre, but I think the dual options will be a great hit for sure!

Exactly my question: if we want an Aasimar instead of an angel, what could we replace the wings/backpack with? will there be a "cloak" option?
Jérémie Léault
please go for dark angel after this one :)
Chris Couture
Would love a spear and shield option
Champ
I love the set! Is there any way to get a shield, fantasy backpack, or cloak back option? It would be cool to use these minis as an Aasimar option in dnd with the ability to have a mini with and without wings. If not no worries, love them as is and am excited to have some fun options for future printing!
Crafty Kenobi
Great Idea to be able to switch from fantasy to Sci-Fi! Keep up the fantastic work and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this idea.
Garred Gomez
These look amazing, both styles. Honestly just take my money, I will buy everything you put out 😁

I'd love to see more of the fantasy/pirate era guns, or even a pirate themed set! Could have 3 man/woman pairs of different races in pirate outfits instead of all the same races
Christopher Szilagyi
These look really cool and fun! In the future, if possible, I'd love to see the shoulder pads to separate. Lots of us use the shoulder pads to customize our marines, and that would allow us to add these to our existing collections. If you're feeling really sauce in the future, separate arms/torsos/heads for the same kitbashing reasons. But these are looking really cool to start!

Just awesome !

I'm generally here for the fantasy, but anyone whose watched painting videos online has seen a lot of futuristic minis painted. I'm kind of intrigued to try some out for the first time. Also, Angels!!! I've been waiting so long!!

These look great, like all of your releases. I would like to once again campaign for bug-people (specifically Mantis style, but I'm cool with wherever your designs take them).
matthew anglin
I'm here for it, they look great.

Thank you so much, and I totally see your concern. Those are not aesthetic I personally like, with the Malakim the idea arrived after sculpting the wing system, it simply worked really well for them. I'm also not an expert of 40k so I couldn't take those projects
Scott Nickell
I love everything about your sculpts AT. While I consider myself and our games to be more fantasy purist, I like that you’re giving options for those that have different styles of play.
Loganopolis
Love it! I would love to see some futuristic beast races
SL
Thanks for the response. I'm not worried about this release... I'm more concerned that it'll start a trend where we'll get 'not necrons' in two months, followed by 'not chaos marines' the month after, and 'not Imperial Guardsmen' after that. The 40K aesthetic is great, but the work you do is so much better.
Artisan Guild
Hello SL! Don't worry, having a couple of extra guns and backpack detracts nothing from the fantasy set. Consider it as an extra :)
SL
I clearly understand that they're modular, but there are so many other Patreons that do Space Marines... You guys have always done some of the best Fantasy work out there and the world really doesn't need more Grimdark future...
