Hoonestly that was painful to watch. I appreciate the fact that Just Write wanted to defend his point of view and was brave enough to join the stream, but some people just shouldn't debate publicly, it was cringe inducing at moments.

Congrats on hitting your Patron goal, Mauler! And 5 2-hour episodes of your signature objective critiques of a Star Wars movie? COUNT. ME. IN. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

gz on the ca$. Well deserved comrade. Your "slaving" efforts are noticeable. Cheer on!

Excited for the new series, after finishing your prior videos I’ve been eagerly awaiting more! Can’t wait! Listened to a bit of the debate using the time stamped link, it sounds like JW is trying to separate the different aspects of the content e.g. story, visual, etc. and equate just one with the movie itself. I see where he’s coming from, but I don’t know that it makes sense to apply that logic to the movie as a whole. Like you basically said he subjectively doesn’t care about the script or plot holes but they are still apart of the movie and make it objectively bad.

Yeah, I doubt he would reply to that and it's a shame that he showed such a disdain for the idea of agreeing on a fact in a story despite working hard to counter argue criticisms until he runs out of reasoning and declares subjectivity. It is not hard to admit you are wrong, I have to do it a lot in my line of work haha.

Here's a comment I posted on his latest TLJ video (which, incidentally, is also the reason I'm no longer a Patreon of his -- because he's letting an agenda get in the way of critical thinking): "This video is yet another example of how mental gymnastics are required to try to find any value in TLJ. But, green alien titty milk drinking curmudgeons, sparkly invincible flying princesses, purple-haired gender studies professors, stuttering poor excuses for deus ex machina cum diablo ex machina character shells, tone-deaf, pervasive and ham-fisted humor, literally inescapable quantities of identity politics, and wasted character development opportunities, ALL have to be completely IGNORED in order to even BEGIN to have this conversation. I’m fine with a deconstruction of Luke and the Jedi after 40 years and after the prequels. People keep trying to play apologetics for that part of the film, but ... that’s a straw man. It’s the REST of the film that was utter trash. Even if we DID get a cool and/or poignant Luke moment (which is debatable; I’d lean that Luke was mostly meh), it’s the REST of that pile of garbage which I cannot abide. I’d love to know your thoughts." He has not replied.

Glad you can supply another series of videos to watch while I do my mundane household stuff! I have yet to watch your full Amnesia series because I haven't actually played the game fully and want to experience this true horror. Ultimately, I can't wait to watch it though.

Can't wait! Your content gives me a near constant stream of critical analysis when I'm doing mundane stuff which... maybe silence should sometimes be preferable as to inspire introspection but that's neither here nor there! I wanted to comment on something I heard from one of your podcasts where I think one of the other commentators suggested to simply "read all the fanfic and pick the best ones." I'm not sure about copyright laws, but I imagine there would be some backlash if the writer just plagiarized someone else's original work without giving credit. The commentator then said that "these fanfic writers don't want money, they just want good stories." If it was me, and I had the opportunity to sue Disney for plagiarizing my script, I may initially be ok with it but eventually I would probably like for Disney to pay my rent for the rest of my life. Even if there is no legal recourse, I would be famous for exposing Disney, especially if the movie became a hit.
