Obviously the reference to death playing chess, in this context, was likely referenced from the movie 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey'. One of the first depictions of playing chess with death (to save your soul/life if you won); however, comes from the 1957 movie 'The Seventh Seal' by Ingmar Bergman (highly recommended film). Loving the soundtrack you use for your intro. Nice. The creature design in this episode is amazing. I'm a huge horror fan, always appreciate a good creepy monster.
