I remember seeing this in theaters. My step dad took me and it was only us in the whole theater. Now, he wasn't one to cry but when I turned and saw him sobbing I knew this movie was gonna break a lot of people. I had pushed this movie out of my head until a few years ago when I remembered a movie about 2 kids who made an imaginary world and found this to rewatch. Needless to say I forgot the sadness and cried my eyes out. This time watching along I played minecraft to keep myself distracted and not sob.

there’s a BRILLIANT clip online somewhere of Gerard Way talking about this film and he’s like “and then the girl just DIES” and it’s so 😭😭😭 SUCH a beautiful film but truly difficult to rewatch, well done for getting through it at all honestly !!!

Most of it was freaking MAGICAL AND it wrapped up beautifully, THANKFULLY!!! Love it for May Belle 😭😭 but I’ll straight up never be over that twist 😭😭 sad just typing about it

I didnt want or expect to sob but all the sobbing occurred 😭😭 Says a lot about the movie that it’s actually on par with the book!!!

oh yeah blocked this trauma from my childhood COMPLETELY and forgot how brutal it is, christ 😭 the absolute shock on your face at the plot twist !!! bless your heart this is such a tough one to sit through but so beautiful in its own way
