Star Ruby under the UV light
🕑 Added 2024-04-13 01:55:33 +0000 UTCMy editor Andrew came to town and I cut an amazing piece for him and he took some amazing footage. This is a synthetic* Ruby that has a some bubbles in it. The bubbles give a great texture to the die. We used the fluorescence of the ruby to play with the lighting for a cool effect. this video will be up in a month or so.

There is a tool that plugs into GemCut Studio that calculates the cut plan with the frosted edges. I think you can find more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gemstones/s/0pX1mpTVwH

that is absolutely gorgeous! I also love the touch of frosted bevel on each edge -- any advice/diagrams on achieving that?

It’s hard to say exactly. I am changing up how I sell things. I used to have someone that sold my work. He would have gotten 5000 plus for this. But remember in the up coming sale there will be a die that is very discounted for the patrons.

So beautiful… And yeah, bubbles add to the character. I know it's not for sale, but out of curiosity — how much would something like this cost?

Hochi mama that one came out incredible! It's not just any ruby either, this is laser ruby :)
