Still can't decide how to feel about Laurel. I definitely like her character more, but I think the actress is playing her a little too hard or jaded, maybe.
It took 2 episodes but I think I'm in love with Oliver. This guy is so charismatic and charming. I can't help it.
Super curious about what mom knows. She's definitely got some secrets. And I want to know them!
Yes! I'm loving the island flashbacks. There is no chance we don't get more, right? I'm enjoying the hell out of them.

I like the character of Laurel. But I agree, I'm not really into the way the actress is playing her. That seems to be common, though, as you're not the only person to mention it. Lol. That's part of what makes him so interesting, I think. You know he's done a bunch of not-so-great stuff, but you are immediately drawn to want good things for him! Those are some of the best characters, in my opinion. The flashbacks! I love them! But they just make more questions which I need more flashbacks to answer! Oh, I'm a big fan of Diggle. I really like him and Oliver playing off each other.

It's interesting that you mention how the actress is playing Laurel as the reason you're not connecting with her. I mentioned in the comments for the first epi that I hoped she was recast after the pilot. I mean I laughed, but I was serious, lol. I just really connected with Oliver right away and wanted good things for him. Idk, I just didn't like her vibe or her acting choices. I mean, I get what he did was shitty, and she has every reason to act like she's acting but their history required more complex acting. Oliver just came back from the dead after 5 years. I always chalked it up to the acting combined with the backstory for my issues with that character. Yes, it's hard not to love Oliver. Even just seeing the end result of the last 5 years without the context of those 5 years he's still very rootable right from the start, despite knowing the type of person he was 5 years ago and the crappy things he did. I love the Island flashbacks. Watching Oliver swat away the birds from his father's body, carry his corpse and bury his body was pretty sad. 😥 It's obvious he's been through a lot and it's obv that whatever happened on the Island, Oliver is a product of his time there and he is who he is now because of it. How can you not root for that? On another note, I really enjoy the interactions between Oliver, his mom (Moira), his sister (Thea) and his bodyguard (Diggle). I haven't watched this show in years. This is a fun show that turns into a really good show. I'm enjoying rewatching it with you.

I'm happy you're enjoying this show. This season gets even better as we move along, but it does pull you in pretty quickly.

Yeah no hate to the actress who plays Laurel but this just wasn't a good fit for her in my opinion. And yes being in love with Oliver is just part of the experience of the show.
