I think his mom is such a complex character for someone we get to see so briefly. I honestly don't know how I feel about her, which is the mark of a good character, I think.
How long is Ian gonna stay around? He's not a bad guy, at all. But he's just so not for me.

It really was such a tough episode for Dex. That phone call scene destroys me every time I watch. It is hard to see him so broken and vulnerable after we’ve seen him so confident for so long. It sucks that he’s turned to alcohol and drugs to numb his feelings over his mom dying but it’s also very understandable. I think his mom was just trying to set him on the right path with that conversation. Ian is a tricky one for me because there are times I like him, like when he’s sweet and complimentary towards Emma, but he can be so annoying too. I personally couldn’t deal with someone that unfunny trying to be funny all the time. It would drive me crazy.
