Bare-ita 3: All bets are off (pt.1- the boring set up)

My wife did the coloring on these pages because frankly I don’t have an eye for shading which is why I mostly just leave it flat colors. It’s going to be a process to convert my wonky color choices into something that works with this shading style, but I think it’s going to lead to comics and pin-ups that not only look better but are done faster (and yeah, I know, it’s half a comic, that’s not colorings fault. Lot of life and work bullshit hit us this month so I haven’t had time to ink the rest of the pages! The first four of these were sitting finished on my tablet waiting for me to finish ink page 5 so it actually worked as set up.)
Cameos part 1:
Ace Reporter Maya O’Shaughnessy (and possibly Taylor’s Super Star Girlfriend who may or may not be Alyssa, I don’t want to drop that kinda lore on someone else’s OC but she was definitely the inspiration for the design) belong to San Penguino.
The customers in the last panel are the D&D group from MCCartoonist’s (most notably Meredith and Martin, but Danny, Eric, and Kurt are also there)
And finally, I didn’t plan on this comic being weirdly topic when I was writing it, I don’t follow sports but I remembered the football brothers from having a cereal a few years ago and thought that’d be a fun set up… only for one of them to marry Taylor Swift who released a song about his dick or something everyone hates (don’t follow Tay Tay news either!) as I’m writing it.
Also I think my politics are clear from how I have Ronnie talk (oh god… I hope no one’s interrupting her like a Cartman and thinking “yeah! The clear villain of the story gets it! They’re just like me!”) but I wanted to do a name reveal for the male reporter for sometime and my plan had been his name was “Kirk Mustachios” (like Millhouse’s Dad or Captain James T…), then a certain something happened and a C-tier podcaster became a right-wing martyr so changed his name to KURT (like Nightcrawler, Cobain, and Loader) to avoid making it look like a tribute. It’s a small thing and I’m sure most people aren’t even going to the notice the chyron with his name anyway, but still, goddammit!

Not sure if they’re thicker than last time I drew her, but Ronnie’s had the thicker eyebrows for a little a bit now, they kinda just poofed bigger in the middle of the party comic (when she’s trying to get the soda away from Gwen: regular sized, when she’s pranking Emily in shower: THICK!) it started as a joke about Sabrina Carpenter (she had an ad YouTube was constantly running at the time) but it ended up making Ronnie’s expression easier to read (the thin yellow eyebrows on white skin get lost in wider shots) so I kept it. Also potentially Alyssa’s security guards having matching ties was an all Kip idea! I’ll let her know you approved!

Working there, buying coffee, standing out front and getting cleaning fluid dumped on them... Every single time, and reliably so." Anyway, the colors look great. Are Ronnie's eyebrows getting thicker? Also yay, Maya! Potentially that could be Alyssa, depending on when this takes place, I'll send you a secret message with what all I'm planning since it's going to take some time to get there. It sure looks like her though - I like that her security have ties that match her dress, it's an extremely Hollywood thing to do.

Wow, I had a lot of LOL moments reading this one. It’s very funny right from the jump, with Ronnie using Gwen’s head as a coaster. You wife’s coloring is really good; you guys make a great team! I don’t think anyone would get confused about where you reside politically. Hopefully not, anyway. Ronnie’s rants are over-the-top enough to make it pretty clear that it’s satire (and hilarious… I don’t know why I enjoy reading about awful people so much, but I really love Ronnie). And of course, thank you for including my gang! They all look great in your style. I love everyone's expressions, and Meredith snapping a photo (while resting her boobs on the counter) is perfect. Excited for the next chapter!
