A brief update and a poll
🕑 Added 2024-05-27 20:09:54 +0000 UTCIf you didn't see it yet, the finished Cameron 4k video is now public. YouTube's default SDR tonemapping made the image dark so I used a custom LUT that kept the brightness identical to blu-ray, but this led to some glitches and artifacts in the SDR version (mostly on screens showing news articles). I decided I'd rather settle for that than a washed out image.

Recomp/port texture support
Next I'm going to spend a few days preparing a texture pack release for the MM recomp and, if possible, the newly released 2Ship2Harkinian port (I haven't had a chance to test it yet).
There will eventually be a full overhaul to take advantage of model edits, add normal maps, and to adapt the textures for the RT lighting- and also just to replace the stuff that looks bad, which I think there's a lot of.
There have actually already been a lot of replacements since the final emulator release as a result of working on the 3DS version, so those will at least be included in this re-launch.
I still plan to finish a 3DS pack for clock town and then gauge which version people are more interested in from there, but at this point I'm leaning towards the recomp with RT.
Next video topic
It's been a year and my Steam library is overflowing with Metroid, so I'd like to do another mega review with Animal Well and a few other relatively recent releases like Ultros and The Last Faith (I can start on capturing footage while doing the texture updates).
The Yuzu shutdown video is also overdue but the fact that it's so late makes me feel like it wouldn't be such a big deal to hold off a little longer to do Metroidvania pt.6 first; vote in the poll if you have a strong preference for which you'd like to see first.

Not the question, but that Metroid-like Prince of Persia from early this year is a new must-play in the genre for me. I recommend giving that a look.
