My webdesigner recently finished my new website โ which is great! But there is still some placeholder art on the site, which looks a bit akward. And therefore I decided to spend some time on updating that art, so I can really start using the website.
Because -as I write this - you can still see this sketchy art on the site!
Now I always need to take a few steps, to turn such a rough sketch into a refined illustration.
And my first step was to give each character the right proportions and correctly detail their faces- for which I used a lot of references from the game.
Now since most characters in game usually just stand around, it was a nice change of pace to draw them in more dynamic poses :)
Once I was happy with the proportions, I cleaned up the linework, and started adding color. And for this I used the characters existing color scheme, but made some small adjustments to better blend them into the blueish background.
And this is the final result- I hope you like it!
Now for those who want to see a bit more of this illustration- you can download this PSD file of this illustration & move the characters around a bit :)
More use of the art
I think this image tells the story of Space Rescue in a nutshell, which is nice. So I hope to be able to use the art on other places as well. But for now, I will first add this art to the website. And then it's back to making game art again :)

Hey Mournilg, thank you for the kind compliment! And unfortunately I couldn't add every girl that appears in the game, because the image would get too crowded. But. let's say I could add 2 more girls, who do you like to see up here then? :)
