As you know, some rooms in Space Rescue are still only accessible through the map; like the Medbay and the Biogarden for example. And this is of course a bit inconvenient.
So for the wrestler's story I decided to put some extra time in a screen that will be the Entrance of the Guest rooms (where the wrestlers stay). It’s not the most exciting addition to the game, but it should improve the flow of the game greatly :) So, this is the sketch I made for that.
Well, the next step was refining it. And here I got a bit of help again from Marlies, which is always appricated! So this is the final result.
A hallway is noting to special, so making it look interesting was a real challenge. In the end I think it became more functional then exciting… but maybe I can put up some more interesting posters here? Suggestions are welcome!
And here you see how it will be placed between the Guest Lounge and the East Hallway that are already in the game. I think it’s a nice fit, right? :)
Now I said we were still missing an entrance for the Biogarden right?... So why not add that as well I though? Because now I could simply take the previous sketch and draw a Biogarden-entrance over it! Ta-da!
The basic idea didn't take me too long.
But the size of the door and the subtle kinks in the backwall gave me some trouble when I tried to refine the image. So I made a floorplan of this area as well, and took that as a guide when I detailed the image. That helped a lot :)
And again with some help from Marlies, we turned that sketch into this image.
So now we can finally enter the Biogarden through it’s door,

With the posters, there’s also an opportunity to add references to the game that have already happened. Maybe there’s a flyer looking for the missing book that keen stole for Rosa or an advert for that special smoothie that keen made Sandy and Mindy.

For the posters, it'd be nice if they tied into the elements from the game, such as an advert for the upcoming wrestling tournament or massage oils available from alien worlds.

Looks great, Robin! I think that the more time a player can spend moving through the interior of The Green Beetle while playing -- without having to go to the overhead map -- the more time the player spends "inside" the world of the game. It all makes the experience of the game and its story more immersive, in my opinion. Thank you for putting in the time and the work to make Space Rescue even better. Be well!
