Coding the Wrestlers story!

I hope you are all doing well!
So since last week I've been coding again, to turn turn all my art into an actual playable game. And I wanted to share a bit of what I've been doing so far :)
Placing & Taking Posters
Now at some point in the game, Keen will be asked to place some 'Wrestle Posters' around the ship. And the goal is simply to place 5 posters, which will be enough to progress the storyline.
But adittionally, depending on where you place a poster, different people will show up at the wrestle match. And because of that, I thought it would be preferable that you could switch around the posters- to influence who would be there. And so to make this happen, I wrote a small bit of code, that could be re-used in various rooms.
There are now 11 rooms where you can place a poster, and I will add more when the game expands again ;)

And in the second gif below, you can see the actual grandstand where the people who have seen the poster will appear -although it's empty now. But I added this gif, because it also shows a rather complex transition to kick off the start of the wrestle match.
Two years ago, I would have seriously struggeled a lot to make something like this...But thanks to all the practice I had, things go pretty easy now. It still takes quite a bit of time of course, but at least I know what I'm doing ;D
The girls in action!
Now the next thing on my to-do list is putting together the actual wresting match -including all the variable outcomes it can have. And as part of this, I will also add this small animation - where the girls are struggeling to make their move.

I've been experimenting with making gifs from the game-and either they become big in filesize -or become super hacky in framerate. So, right now I tried to find a middle ground and added gifs which are a bit hacky but not too big (max 10 mb). But, I'm actually not sure if a bigger filesize would be an issue for these patreon post? ...since I don't recieve my own posts :)
So if you have any thoughts on that -or know how other creators deal with this, please let me know!

Thanks Perry! And the game animations, especially things like transistions should be 100% fluid indeed. But then I'll just experiment a bit more with the gifs :)

Well I think the gifs are fine as they are, a little hacky as you say, but as a preview of what is coming thats ok, the game is what we are here for and I sure it will be more fluid.

Hey Kamz! The game is indeed slowly increasing with lots of extra art :) But, the game enigne itself is actually not accepting gifs (or any pre-rendered video type); so all animation in game is made of singe images (jpeg/png), guided by code instructions to make it into an animation. It's a bit primitive, but once you got used to it, also interesting to work with. And the gifs only appear in the post. But... I understand, you like them, so I'll keep adding more then :D

Thank you so much Phantomponch, I'm glad you're such a fan of Lune :) I like her too & want to bring het back some more in other stories as well. And the upcomming update, you will train with Tonda -who will eventually wrestle Neeva. But in the end the idea is that you can choose any of the 3 girls to train with -and this determins with who you will end up at the end. * I also hope I can add the remaining 2 girls at once in a following update -since all the assets are now more or less in game already.

Thanks SYH! That's good to know. Just as a reference - I reduced the second gif in the post from 44MB to 10 MB- hoping it would load nicly. But yeah, that made it hacky, so still trying to find a better middleground.

Thanks C, good to know :) Now Patreon allows me to upload images to these posts till 512 MB. So that is more then enough luckily. But I was more worried about the loading of the gifs - sometimes you have to wait forever till a bigger image appears on screen. ...and I have no idea how these post land in your email- didn't want to flood eveyones mailbox with this :)

I think increasing the games file size is fine. Especially because the gifs are big part of why we are here :D

Very excited for this update? Will all the new wrestlers be featured? Or mainly the two we’ve seen most of on here? Also, after many playthroughs, I still can’t get over how sexy Lune is!

It's an issue for those of us on limited bandwidth. At home, a post with more than one 10MB GIF isn't a problem; away from trusted networks, a 20MB post might as well be inaccessible.

Depending on how you distribute it, you'll need to worry about the number of gigs. I honestly don't know what Patreon's cap is, but itch.io has a default 2 gig cap and the most popular filesharing sites have a soft cap around 3 gigs.
