Animation: Tonda weight lifting!
🕑 Added 2023-01-10 07:30:38 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
This week I’ve done some more animation for Tonda; one of the stranded wrestlers that was picked up by the Green Beetle. And this time I made a weight-lift animation for her :)
Here you can see the setup I used:

And with these parts, I made this made this animation; which has 8 unique frames that are being played back and foreward in a loop.

Now the overall idea for the gym is, that you can eventually click on the fitness equipment that Keen made, to see these animations. But of course you have to ‘unlock’ this first. And to do so, there is a small challenge to overcome for each of the werestling girls.
Now Tonda is the Tactician of the team, and she has been studying a lot of ‘wrestle-chess’ scenarios to prepare for her matches. And in the absense of their trainer, Tonda now asks Keen to quiz her about those scenarios. And this will become another mini-game :)

Now this is a chess puzzle, where the wrestler moves like a ‘knight’-piece. And it’s up to Keen, to figure out how the wrestler can get to the other one in the least amount of moves. Now in the simple version of this game you just have to give the right answer (out of 3 options). And if you do this correctly 3 times, Tonda feels she has studied enough and will continue to fitness. But if you fail, she will go back to study, and you’ll have to quiz her again later...or you can just cheat and skip the game of course :)
[Update] Here is also some art I made for the tutorial, explaining the ‘knight’-move.

Well, that's the idea at least- I hope you like it so far!
All the best!

Thank you dacer :)

No worries, you don't need to be an expert to have a say in something :) In the end it's all about how the game is recieved, so I'm always open for feedback & will do my best to make the most of it :)
Robin
Yep, this story is all about well defined muscles :)
Robin
Haha, thank you so much CyanCapsule! That's a big compliment, saying this version might be hotter then the nude version. But feel free to compare later on, because in the end you will get to have both versions :) All the best! Robin
Robin
Thank you so much H.B! I'm glad you enjoy it as it is!
CyanCapsule
This looks amazing! The way she moves feels so nattural and the thong bit is looking hot. Same with the boob-squish detail! I thought I might like a nude version for a second but now I don't even know anymore cus all the lil clothing details kinda add to the appeal haha. Keep up the amazing work!

The hard work is always appreciated. I personally prefer the way you animate. It doesn't need to be super fancy for an adventure/visual novel type of game. What you do is way better than just live 2D.

As long as they have well defined muscles I’m on bored
Dacer
Always interesting to see the creative process, Robin! Thank you. Ready for more fun when it's ready! Be well!

Hopefully there will be room in your budget, personally I don't have the knowhow to jelp though, I'm a software developer, I know a bit of 3D modeling/animation, but my knowledge of 2D stuff is pretty much nonexistent 😆
Robin
Thank you Sirdan! I hope so too :)
Robin
Thank you ninjoe! I'm glad you like it all :D But still, the perfectionist in me will always strive for better... and adding a few frames is a actually fairly easy quality improvement. It's just too bad it takes more time then I have ;)
Robin
Yeah, you do have a point ;) Adding additional frames to the animations is actually on my to-do list. Especially the older animations could use a couple of extra frames, like those of Lune. But, doing that for those older animations requires time. And for now I rather spend that time on advancing the game. But perhaps if there is an animator who could help me out, I could fix it :)
Robin
Haha, well spotted Dave!

Loving how things are shaping up. This is gonna be a fun chapter when things flex out.

I think your art and animations are on point. Please dont change anything! 😃

Move to the lower left corner. You'll get there w/ the next move

Thank you for the quick reply. Ive never worked with Live2D, I've just seen other projects use it to good effect. Perhaps in the meantime it would be possible to do some tweening? The photoshop animations are rather choppy
Robin
Hey Logan! I did actually look into that before staring Space Rescue. But I always felt that the results of those animations look a bit too ...stiff? And I was afraid I would not get the results that I wanted. But animating in photoshop, is far from perfect too. However, I like the fact that I can draw over each frame, to get excatly what I want. And once you go to live 2D that seems less of an option. So that's why I work like this. But perhaps I one day find a good animator, who knows the program well and can convice me it will also work for Space Rescue? :)
The Logan
Have you considered using something like Live2D for the animations?
