Location: Medbay sketch update & the Doctor

Today I decided to continue working on some of my previously made Medbay-sketches.
The examination room
Now in this case I liked what I had in terms of composition, but I didn't like the feel of the room yet. It just felt cold and unpleasant. So went I on and tried to find ways to make the room cozier.
This is the sketch I previously made.
So to make it cozier, I first added some warmer colors to the room. Then I redesigned the chair - which was way to minimalistic- and changed it into something that could almost be a massage chair. But then the room still felt really empty (...desolated in a way), so to change that, I added some medical devices & textbooks to the foreground, to fill up the space a bit.
Well, and then you get this. (Ehhh, remember, Keen is here for a check up!)
The Doctor
Next I tried to come up with a design for the Doctor herself. Now amongst other things, she's the sister of Sophie, so I wanted the doctor to at least look a bit like her. But, I also wanted to avoid making an excact copy. So, here is what I came up with!
You can probably see I used Sophie as a base, because her glove is still visible :)
Recovery room
Well and last but not least, there is the recovery room, where the girl from the intro is healing up. Now, this room won't be part of the Doctors story. But since it's part of the Medbay I thought it would be good to design it anyway.

Thank you Dacer! I'm glad you like it so far :) But it's tricky making the right design choices here. Both sisters are blonde and have similair bodytypes, which introduced a risk for confusion. But I think their outfits set them apart enough to avoid that confusion. And of course they have their own locations where they work/ the story takes palce; that should also help to set them apart...I hope :) Ufff. well, it's a real balance act this one. Please keep safe as well!

These concepts for Dr. Sister look really good, Robin! As others have said, they improved as you iterated on them. I like the idea of Sophie's sister as a blonde. I'm in the camp which feels that Sophie and her sibling don't need to look *too* much alike, and the design you've evoked here suggests a family resemblance without the two possibly being mistaken for one another. It occurs to me that Dr. Sister is the first blonde female member of the starship's crew so far? I suppose it would help new readers/players who come along to be able to tell the ship's characters apart at a glance. Possibly less chance for confusion? Anyway, thanks again for another look at your creative process, Robin! It certainly produces intriguing results. :-) Be well, go safely,
