About his weird phrasing: I think Almando is trying to do "army talk", also known as "cop talk". For example: "After receiving the information we proceded to the individual's domicile. Once there, we attracted his attention by operating the button beside the front-entrance". A normal person would say: "We got his home address so we went there and rang the doorbell". It's a combination of using officious words and not acually giving details.

Almando is so full of shit bragging about his book sales and telling tall tails about his great friend. I wouldn't be surprised if him "being in the Army" (if there is anything true about that at all) actually means that he works for a contractor hired to do cleaning. So: no uniform, no weapon, no military training; just a slub cleaning up after the soldiers.

In the imaginary friend’s defense, i didn’t recognize “Calvo” either. He shaved that weird little brush off his chin and put on a couple lbs, and he looks a lot different. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Swapping out the bathrobe for this shockingly (not surprisingly) colorful shirt probably also affected his recognizability. Almando without the bathrobe is like Tim Pool without that fuckin’ stocking cap.
