his armor used to be lot more complex. well.. complex in a different way i guess. it used to have more plates closer to a full suit of armor and as cool as it was it is equally tricky to draw. also in context Arc does a lot of traveling early on and they probably wouldn't wear full plate for a long trek
side note they are a good dog
