The alpha legion is Schrodinger's legion. Its a paradox by nature, and that's why they make perfect spies. No one can pin them down. Every single detail of their early days makes this so clear. I believe that those Ravens were the first initial iteration of the Space Sharks. After that, they would happen upon Loyalist Remnants of the Traitor Legions later and incorporate them into the ranks. Specifically, I believe that Nightlords have been mixed in along with possibly a few World Eaters. A chimeric gene seed makes the most sense for their specific situation.
