On the topic of human fragility. Our primary drive to breathe is base off of the lvl of co2 in our system. But due to some illness. That system fails. We then revert to what is called hypoxic drive. Meaning to breathe your oxygen level need to stay low. It is possible to cause someone who has a hypoxic drive to stop breathing if you put them on oxygen and get close to 100%. Cuz essentially the body will be like " tanks full shut of the pump". In EMS training they stress this so we realize oxygen is still a drug in our context and can have side effects.

So small off topic comment, on moving water: a cubic foot of water, moving at a casual walking speed, hitting a full grown man in the chest, will send him to the ground. It was a frequent talking point in my hometown, we had several great swimming spots in nearby rivers. But every year, people would do stupid stuff when it was still too cold (snow melt off) and we'd have kids die every year to that.
