“I like to imagine that Ullanor is a keystone to the Ork species. Only when it is held by Orks they can evolve to Krork levels. They know the on a instinctual level, so they are drawn to it. The Eldar Empire had to take it away from the Orks to make them devolve into something they could easily manage, and during their height several of their robotic armies were used to prevent the Orks from retaking it. With the Fall, the infrastructure needed to keep these armies working was destroyed and the Orks took over and ruled it until the Ullanor Crusade. Why the Old Ones would do it?
