Behind The Canvas S1E5 - Thomas McCormick Gallery
🕑 Added 2024-01-07 06:00:01 +0000 UTCAn artist without a gallery is a chef without a restaurant or a musician without a theatre. But what exactly does a gallerist do all day and where do they find artists, and how do they find clients, and moving artwort, and writing about art, and visiting artists' studios, and phew!... it's a delicate juggling act all in the service of artwork and its power to reach us. In this episode we visit Thomas McCormick Gallery to see how a gallery operates and works with artists.

I'm just getting to this one, I've been gone - it's my favorite yet.
"Exceptional conservation." ππ It's really cool to see the interaction of giants, especially when they can joke with each other.

Who is Vidvid Svidri?! I couldn't find anything about this person. Loved the Anna segment! In fact I think this episode is the one I most liked in the series! (so far)
I havenβt the slightest clue but I bet if you contacted Tom at Thomas McCormick gallery and asked heβd be happy to share. Itβs probably on his website tooβ¦

What a wonderful glimpse at how a gallerist looks at art vs an artist. I immediately 'got' why Anna said: "Don't tell me you are going to sell it". When something is born from your mind, heart, & soul, it has to be difficult to let it go. I have a glass artist friend who needs to sell her art to live but it is hard for her to let her creations go for just commercial reasons. She wants the new caretakers to have the same relationship that she has.

I love that painting in the intro, could you possibly tell me anything about it?
