Late to the comments but just had to add Big Snaps for your impressive original, detailed, and thoughtful planning process of Clampinator. Fascinating.
Hard to believe the hide glue is going to resist the shear forces from the wood long-term. Have other conservation experts been successful by adding a fully glued backing to provide foundation strength to the entire piece, post gluing?
