One minute, browsing the shops at the renaissance fair, the next, getting her palm read...the next, she'd somehow been talked into boning the palmist. It seemed like a good enough idea. Why did it seem like a good idea? She stopped, hesitant. It was raining and muddy. Why do it out there in the muck?
He anticipated her question. "C'mon, you don't want anyone else wandering into the tent while we're in the middle of it, do you? It's freeing, losing yourself out in the embrace of nature. It won't take but a minute, and you won't regret it...I swear, it will be life-altering..."
So she found herself on her back with him leering down at her. He was right, she'd needed this...but the rain splattered onto her face and made it hard to focus. She sputtered, and the man laughed. She sputtered again, her lips feeling strange...her head was pounding from two points above her eyes. The man was still laughing, but it wasn't coming from him, somehow it was all around her...enveloping her, as she enveloped him, writhing, clenching...shifting...
She woke to the same rain pattering on her nose. Too much of it, somehow, more than she was used to feeling. The man was gone, but he'd left his offering inside her...she groaned and looked down across her body. She blinked. Panic began to well within her. Grey fur, hooves instead of feet...a long snout before her eyes...a goat, she'd become some kind of goat creature?! She shook her head, hoping the scene would change, but it did not. Come to think of it...the forest around her was unfamiliar, she had no idea which way they'd come to get here...
What was she supposed to do now?
