It had all started with that little bottle of pills...the ones that were supposed to increase libido and spice up their sex life by tapping into primal urges. And that, it did...the first night was a revelation, a wild experience neither of them had ever had before...and an instant addiction. There was no question that this would become their nightly routine...and then sometimes before leaving for work...and almost hourly on the weekends. When the dark hair started growing in thick, they were far too committed to be concerned. When their coworkers complained about their hygiene and their manager wrote them up, they simply stopped going to work. Anything for another session...another pair of those little pills (just one had long ceased to be enough).
When they were evicted from their apartment for non-payment, they stood on the sidewalk surrounded by their meager possessions. She fidgeted with her stumpy tail while he picked his nose. They looked at each other, then down at the last bottle of the pills...dividing it evenly among themselves, they swallowed all of them at once, then lumbered off into the underbrush, grunting....grunts that slowly rose into a cacophony of unceasing screeches...
