Falling into her natural habitat
🕑 Added 2024-08-14 02:50:46 +0000 UTC"P-please! Can anybody hear me? Is there anyone else out there...?"
Her voice sounded alien to her...she hadn't used it in a few days, and it was obvious that her vocal cords were changing too.
Two weeks ago she'd woken up in this forest, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, with no explanation as to how she arrived. Survival concerns quickly pushed aside the mystery of what had happened to her. It wasn't exactly easy to subsist on nuts and berries, but at the same time they seemed oddly plentiful, enough to stave off the worst hunger pangs. Then, before long, she began changing...her nose pushed out into a snout as her ears rose up higher on her head, and a bushy tail snaked from her rear. She couldn't accept what she was becoming...she pushed back on the new growths on her chest, willing them to recede, but to no avail. An animal, a squirrel...she was transforming into a wild woodland creature.
As the days wore on, she found she cared less about grooming herself...there wasn't time for such things, not with the growling in her stomach. The forest has a way of making you its own, as you become one with the dirt and the twigs and the brambles that get caught in your fur...still she soldiered on, hoping to find someone, anyone, who could help her...
