People come out different

The locals had warned her not to go inside. Anyone who went in came out different...they didn't want to elaborate, only shook their heads. It only made her more curious. It was already so interesting...a cave entrance hewn into an arch, like someone intended to use it for some purpose, but then quickly abandoned the project. What had happened? What had they found?
Whatever it was, she'd found it. Or more precisely, she'd found nothing but a long, sloping corridor, but the deeper she went, the more her skin crawled. When her pants tore and she felt something squirming from her backside, that was when she ran. And running on all fours was feeling more and more natural, as she saw the light above and dashed toward it. The sounds that issued from her throat weren't her own, they were strained, screeching...
As she burst into the light, she leaned back on her haunches, breathing heavily, kneading her furry breast...she didn't know whether her ruined body was what the cave did to everyone, or if she'd left in the nick of time, escaped before it could reduce her fully to a tiny, squeaking rodent. Some part of her already felt a deranged call to return, to go deeper, while the rest of her was horrified at such a foolish thought...
