Chapter 99: Taste Of The New World III
.................
There was an umbrella. The umbrella was situated on a soap bubble floating in the air above Kalifa, stopping the onslaught of lightning from reaching her.
"Huff!" She looked quite exhausted, dripping with sweat as she gently punched the air before her, one punch at a time.
Her fists were enveloped in bubbles of her own making, using them like gloves, the power of her Devil Fruit.
"Phaw, it tickles." Yovan was doing the same, albeit with a few differences.
Only his lower part was clothed in feather-like clothes, hardened with Armament Haki because that was the only thing that can survive the onslaught of lightning... He was using an umbrella.
"You..." Kalifa took a deep breath as she punch the air again, "Just how much of a monster do you want to be? Lightning is tickling you now? And you're now even fully..."
He wasn't even fully using Armament Haki. Only some areas of his body were hardened with Haki, meaning that his body was actually fighting off the sheer destructive force of lightning.
But only he knows that the only reason he can do so is because of Survival's instinct. He can feel his Armament Haki moving inside of him, protecting the vital part of his body because otherwise, he would be dead.
The lightning would surely destroy him inside out if his Haki wasn't protecting him inside out, shielding even the minuscule of veins. It was especially protecting his heart.

"It feels weird. It's kind of uncomfortable to not feel any pain after so long." Yovan couldn't help but murmur, "Just ticklish."
"Then I'll make sure you're uncomfortable all the time, and you can't say no. I'm one of the Strangers, so I'll be damned if I didn't make sure my Captain owns the world and help him through everything." Kalifa spoke firmly, obviously not taking a no for an answer.
It has indeed been a while since Yovan felt no pain, years in fact. He was so used to pain that feeling none made him uncomfortable, and it was all due to Kalifa's Devil Fruit powers.
Her Devil Fruit is not only capable of creating bubbles but also cleaning up things... She was capable of cleaning out his pain, and all it took was touching him with a bubble.
She then attached the bubble to him with a thin soap vein, allowing it to continuously clean his pain, and only then did Kalifa realize just how much pain Yovan was in all the time because the bubble takes no more than a dozen minutes before popping.
The pain he was feeling due to the lightning and the shockwaves within him was enormous, but he was capable of shrugging it off like nothing.
So Yovan just shrugged. He honestly saw it as something unnecessary because the pain was pretty much nothing to him at this point. It might as well just be tickling for him.
He punched the air before him but released no shockwave. He wasn't training his Kiryu Hasshoken. No, he was training in Fish-Man Karate along with Kalifa.
The karate was something Hody Jones gladly handed to him before vanishing in the depths, never to be seen again just like his friend Vander.
Both of them saw value in training the Karate, so they trained the basics a bit, spared a bit, rinse and repeat until Kalifa fully exhausts herself.
The training was abruptly ended by Laffitte interrupting as he walked up to them, "One of the news coo came to the ship and left this paper... And oh, Antarisa almost ate it, I think she's bored. Can I..."
"No, leave Antarisa alone." Yovan shook his head.
Kalifa took the paper, and started looking through it, "It's what you asked for... Most of their locations are known."
Yovan took a seat on the rough ground, still basking in the brutality of lightning as he listened carefully.
"The Painting In Between, bought by one of the Emperors of the Underworld, Drug Peclo for 50 million beli. His location is currently unknown." Kalifa said.
She knows what this was all about. Yovan's paintings are said to have been scavenged from Seizon No Hono after the Fall Massacre and were soon auctioned for ridiculous prices.
She, however, is almost certain they weren't scavenged, but Yovan planned for this, planned to use the Fall Massacre as an advertisement to boost their price, and raise funds for Bege to become one of the emperors of the underworld.
No, not just one of the emperors, but to have overwhelming control over the underworld. What she doesn't know is that his plans go beyond that... The Pantheon.
"Feathers Of Desperation, bought by Doflamingo, one of the Warlords of the Sea, for 250 million Beli. Location: Dressrosa."
"Antarisa, bought by one of the Emperors... One of the Four Emperors, Big Mom, Charlotte Linlin for 600 million Beli. She also released a bounty for the real Antarisa for the same price..." Kalifa's mouth twitched as she said it.
"Pffft Yahahahaha, maybe she wants to eat it? Antarisa will surely work harder when she hears that." Yovan commented with a laugh.
"How? Why are paintings more valuable than me? Just how?" Laffitte had to question his existence and sanity. Like, that's 600 million Beli!!!
"It's because of the Fall Massacre. It was such resounding news, especially with Yovan being the second individual ever to escape the Impel Down. The Paintings' value rose because of him." Kalifa explained.
"Anyway, The Veil Of Darkness, bought by Doflamingo for 900 Million Beli. Location: also Dressrosa."
"Lastly... T..." Kalifa had to stop herself from gasping out loud, keeping her calm as she continued, "The Fall Massacre, bought by someone Unknown. Location: Unkown. Price... The Price is four... Four billion Beli."
"Pfft... pftt Yahahhaahahahahahahahahahahah, I can't!!! I really can not hold it back Yahahahahahaha!" Yovan rubbed the tears of laughter off his eyes, barely able to calm himself down.
"I... Just who? Could it be?" Kalifa wondered out loud.
"Either of two... The World Government, or the Revolutionary Army." Yovan let out a grin as he jumped up to his feet, starting to stretch out a bit.
"I got myself a taste of New World, so it's time to set off... to Dressrosa, our goal is to retrieve the paintings!! But first I have a painting to draw!" Without wasting much time, Yovan scattered before appearing in Seizon No Hono.
That was a lie. His goal wasn't just to retrieve the paintings. No, he was seeing far into the future. In fact, the Pantheon was already moving at a ridiculous point.
Yovan wasn't even done with his new painting before a black piece of paper dropped on the Ship, dropped by a crow, a real crow, not one of Yovan's Everless Crows.
Kalifa picked it up with a frown, her frown becoming more prevalent by the second the more she reads.
[The Pantheon: Is it Power that you wish for? Know that shortcuts to power have a price, and it's your choice to take the shortcut. Every piece costs Ten Thousand Beli.]
By this point, almost everyone knows how the Pantheon works. There are thousands if not tens of thousands of crow nests throughout Paradise.
For the wishes of Death, all you have to do is to leave who you wish death upon on a piece of paper close to a nest. If your wish is accepted, a piece of paper with the price will reach you. You leave the payment by the nest, and it shall be done.
For the wishes of power, all you have to do is to leave the payment and a location on a piece of paper by one of the nests, and the pills will find themselves in the said location.
Indeed, the said pills are none other than the Energy Steroid Pills, something he just discovered on the Fish-Man Island, yet the Pantheon somehow already started the manufacturing process.
In fact, the Crows of the Night were already spreading throughout the New World, constructing nests in notable locations.
The Pantheon Gods were communicating with each other at all times, and in what little time the Pantheon existed, it has already become a force to be reckoned with despite what little is known about it.
The most important thing to Yovan, however, was that the Gods of the Pantheon actually feel like they're part of the Pantheon, and become trusted because only then can he allow them to know their next plans.
Kalifa frowned, turning her attention to Yovan. She didn't interrupt him. Merely watching as he drew Raijin Island before him, albeit with a few differences.
It was a close-shot drawing because he painted himself within it, standing amidst the lightning. He also drew Kaku who was continuously moving in the air, trying to evade the lightning.
He also drew her, training in Fish-Man Karate with her bubbles. He drew an annoyed old lady as she followed Laffitte around to stop him from doing things that shouldn't be done, the regret of inviting them to the Island apparent in her expression.
It all correlated to draw a smile out of her. They were really making special memories together without even trying, "I guess this is our first taste of New World." Kalifa remarked.
"Hm? That's a good name for it... Taste Of New World." Yovan let out a wide smile as he wrote that name down.
