Here is a version with moving camera angle:
They are implemented with curves and triangulation instead of as textures (images), so stuff like changing their color is very simple too:
When I showed these on the discord, some people mentioned that they prefer a fixed width version. It looks like this:
Compared to the variable width version (gif #1), which version (fixed or variable length) do you like more?

I agree with Alex. The variable width makes the entire thing too nervous for my taste...

don't like the idea of a gay orc society. As for the speech bubbles, I like the moving camera angle better.

Fixed width is less jarring, so go with that imo.
